We do not print comments to blog posts on the posts, themselves, because, after a decade of reading some of the most vile people leaving horrible comments to others, often having nothing to do with the posts but just backlashing for personal vendetta or just because they can, we have decided that comments really just detract from the posts and that most people have nothing new or nice to say; those who do have something to say have already started their own blogs, and you can usually find them writing over there. If you do have something to say that is relevant to the post, however, please do email us. NEW EVENTS CALENDAR

We have incorporated a new events calendar into our sidebar. It will feature all kinds of events, color-coded by subject [click on arrow in top right of calendar to see a dropdown list of all subjects]. You can subscribe to the calendar or individual subjects within the calendar, and it will be updated constantly. The calendar is accessible by clicking on the calendar in the sidebar, or by following the link below.

HELP US OUT BY DIGGING US

Love Alternating Current? Want to spread the infection like the virus that it is? Then Digg us. We have installed a new Digg button in our sidebar and on our individual posts. Here's how it works for the technologically-declined:

If you like our entire page, click the Digg "submit" button in the SIDEBAR.

If you like an individual blog post, click on the TITLE of that post, so the blog post is given its own page and url, and then click the individual Digg "submit" button within that post. This is important to do if you are just trying to Digg a certain post, so the individual url is what gets "dugg."

The more people who Digg us, the more people find out about us, so help a brutha out, huh?

NEW FEATURE: CHAT LIVE WITH ALTERNATING CURRENT STAFF

We have an awesome new feature on this blog, and soon on our website, as well: chat live with staff and co-op members of the Alternating Current Arts Co-op (aka [AC]^2) from this blog. Visit the section in the sidebar that says CHAT LIVE WITH [AC]^2 STAFF. Click on the name in the chat bubble [connected to our most active account] to speak to an Alternating Current staff member about any topic, question, concern, posting, etc. that interests you. You cannot choose with whom you speak; whomever is currently on the account will answer your comments.

NEW FEATURE: YOUR DAILY CRACK

This is the beginning of a new feature we are going to have on this blog. It is a listing of cool news, events, history-making stories, links, videos, and ideas that intrigue us each day. Sort of a Digg or Reddit-style list of our favorite articles and links containing some awesome information for each day. You can find this set of monthly constantly-updated links by visiting the search label YOUR DAILY CRACK in the label [WHAT'S YOUR DRUG OF CHOICE?] box in the sidebar or up at the top of the blog. There will only be ONE post daily, and we will update it with new links, added to the top of the list, in no particular order except reverse chronological of how we found them and posted them. It is going to be a sweet little mini-news feed [yeahyah! get your RSS feed on!] that will hopefully keep you coming back to the blog, clicking on YOUR DAILY CRACK in the sidebar to see what you've missed, and reading what we consider awesome and newsworthy but perhaps don't have enough time, research, knowledge, or overall interest to delve into further for a full-on blog post/article/story.

NEW ACTIVITIES FEATURE

In our efforts to keep this blog current, important, and a source of reliable and instant information, we are making a necessary and cool change to one of our sidebar navigation links. The link for "Activities," which used to list all activities - past, present, and future - that had been marked with that label, is now only going to feature fresh and current activities. Once an activity has happened, we will remove the label "Activities" from the post, and it will no longer show up under "Activities." This will enable everyone to check out what's happening right now, instead of being bogged down with events that have already happened and having to fork through the current and past ones. Each post will still come up under its other labels, so the post will definitely not disappear completely from navigation, but this change will enable the "Activities" link to become a more vital part of the underground events scene.

POSTS FOR SEATTLE, BOSTON, AND MICHIGAN

For those who don't know our history and are wondering why Seattle, Boston, and Michigan are getting all the posting love - and why they are the only ones with actual sidebar navigation links - here is the 411.

We started as little spuds in Michigan - Lansing and Detroit area - where we took over the scene with our company back in 1994. In 2004, we moved the whole bad ass machine to Seattle, where we made some of the most amazing connections on this lovely planet. This past September, 2008, we just moved the machine across the country again, this time to the Boston/Cambridge area, where we have set up shop, probably permanently, on the East Coast.

We have loved and supported many artistic movements throughout our time, but none moreso than our original and adopted hometowns. And we will continue to lend our voices and support to the art movements in those areas, seeing as a large majority of our own supporters come from those regions.

We do and will support people from everywhere, every walk of life, every art endeavor. But, going back to our roots and staying true to our past, Seattle, Boston, and Michigan will be the only places with their own sidebar navigation links on this blog.

PAYPAL INFORMATION

You can Paypal us money at the address alt.current@gmail.com. Our old website, to which you are currently being redirected while the new website is being created, does not have a way to pay via credit card. But we do encourage you to do so anyway! It is a bit of a pain in the buttocks, I know, but please feel free to go through all the cart motions like you were going to send a check or money order, get all the shipping info, etc.; then simply cut and paste the entire cart contents, price, etc. into an email, with your name and mailing address, and email it to us at alt.current@gmail.com. You can then manually Paypal us the amount at alt.current@gmail.com, and we will mail you the items once your payment is received. A couple of extra steps right now, I know, and we apologize, but at least it is possible, if you want to purchase items via credit card/Paypal. Sorry for the inconvenience, and please bear with us during this time of transitional chaotic mess.

MAKE CHECKS PAYABLE TO ALTERNATING CURRENT

We now have a new business account set up at a bank in Cambridge, since we moved and had to close down our other one. Please note that checks now need to be made out to ALTERNATING CURRENT. On our old website, it says something different, but please disregard that. While we are building the new site, we do not have time to update the old site that we will no longer be using, so please make the change manually, if you are mailing us checks. Rest assured that our new site will be fully updated with this change.

MONTHLY POSTCARD MAILINGS

We are now mailing out monthly postcards to let people know what's new, in lieu of making catalogs to send in the mail. With internet being as widespread as it is, there is just no need to keep printing catalogs. We will send a postcard with all our new offerings to anyone who has made a purchase or contacted us within the previous month. Twice a year we will send out mass mailings to everyone on our list. If you want to receive the next postcard for January 2008, please email us with your full mailing address, including full name, and the best email address at which to reach you to let you know of new offerings.

After over two months of weird and unnecessary deliberation, the post office has finally given us the p.o. box we asked for in September! I apologize for the stall in publishing and...well...everything (!), but we finally have an official address!

AWAITING WORD FROM THE POST OFFICE

We apologize for the delay in publishing. We are trying to stay on a schedule, but the post office is screwing us up. We have not been able to obtain a p.o. box at our local post office yet, due to the absence of an SS-4 form, which we are not going to fill out. The form is unnecessary because we don't need a business license to be a sole proprietorship. So we have had to go through all kinds of hoops to get the p.o. box, and it has been almost a two-month process now, since the company moved to Boston in mid-September. We are awaiting some sort of formal letter from the post office stating that we can have a p.o. box, and it seems to be taking forever.

We have three books lined up to be printed that were due out on November 1st: Confessions of a White Hat by Ed Galing, a book about Ed's days in the Navy in the late 50's/early 60's; Poiesis Number One by various artists, a collection of poetry by different poets; and an alien here by leah angstman, a collection of poetry that is book one in our Pocket Protectors series. These books are finished, but they will not be printed until we have a p.o. box address to include with them. We apologize for the delay. Trust me, it's more annoying to us than it is to you. At this point in time, we are still planning on having the December releases out on schedule, but that might change if this drags out any further. We will keep you updated.
