What a pleasure to read and enjoy. The photography, most of which is by Pieter Eistersohn, is first rate, as are the graphics. Care, and thoughtfulness infuses the visuals throughout. Her use of color is first rate. I was surprised by the writing. Ms. Handegan seems to go out of her way to impart the kind of information about these projects that a student of design would actually care about; and she does so in an unpretentious way that respects the intelligence of her reader. Its refreshing to open a book of this nature and actually learn something about design.

An extremely well done collection of Ms. Handegan's body of work spanning an amazing career. It captures the senses with exquisite photography. This, coupled with the narrative, is a must have for anyone interested in curling up with a great read and ready for a wonderful escape into the world of design. Classic interiors with a timelessness achieved by few. I wholeheartedly recommend this lovely book, you will not regret it!

Apart from Handegan's incredibly refined color sense, she has an overriding aesthetic that runs the gamut from 18th century stately homes in historical style... to pared down modernism... to a cozy unpretentious beach cottage. Almost no sign of obvious color-schemes. All look effortlessly unforced... achieved by a master designer who clearly understands the project, the client, and the building's structure. Her writing style seems equally natural, unforced, and unpretentious. When the new President moves into the Whitehouse, January 2017, Handegan should be the designer. (Of course that ain't gonna happen.)

Amanda Handigan seems like a very good designer with good ideas. The rooms are nicely photographed and the book is well laid-out. But by the end there is a sameness and a palpable lack of truly great inspiration. She's no Nancy Lancaster or even Bunny Williams, but she does have a Southerner's bead on what makes a room warm and inviting. 4-Stars because it's not really great, just good.

A glorious booked filled with luscious interiors by this renowned designer. So stylish and sophisticated, Ms Handegan is a master and making rooms beautiful and comfortable at the same time. Beautifully photographed, with a good amount of detailing and story telling.

Having been familiar with Amelia and her designs for some time now, it is incredible to see some of her best work exemplified in such a beautiful book. If you enjoy seeing wonderful interior aesthetic and reading about some of the greatest properties in America, this one is for you.

Outstanding works portrayed in this beautiful book of photographs and enlightening narrative. A must have...a must read.
