Just want to say,

I really appreciate the luxury to late nights now... even though they may be spent on working on the thesis. But it's with the companionship of live music by cinematic orchestra. I don't think academics can get any better than this, and I am certain that I'll miss this after graduating. Wouldn't it be great if more employment opportunities were available for the night?

On hindsight, as I write my literate review AFTER I have collected data (very bad planning haha), I think... it may have been a mistake to use data from the centre where I'm interning at. It deprives me of research flexibility; the design of the study is, to be honest, quite fucked up. I don't know if there will be any tangible results, and if any, how much can be attributed to real causal forces. I don't think it's publishing quality, which is quite stark from what I had intended. I really hope I still can manage a second upper, or else the efforts for the past three years would have been diminished based on one not-very-wise decision. Of course, life is bigger than this, and it doesn't count for much years into workforce, but it is just one of the things that matter to me, for now.

Oh well!

This is it. I'm a friggin' owl. The night I sleep early at nine, my bioclock decides to wake me up at one. So I'm completely awake now and wondering how biased the whole world and its systems has been towards the larks, with all activities revolving around their time. How convenient. Also feeling the a tinge of regret for not getting the windchime from meleka awhile back.

Realised all the different types of panadols are the SAME. Just came back from the kiosk and spent a good ten minutes comparing and reading the ingredients content, you know, to get the best deal.

*Hoot* *Hoot*

Hard work brings you to places.
This is never been more striking until today.

I'm surrounded by friends who have worked damn hard to get to where they are. People who were brave enough to re-route along the way; people who had to go the long way; people who had to take the road less traveled; people who went with the flow, but did so with immense difficulties due to their circumstances. They all had their goals in mind, sucked it up, and just worked damn hard.  Some are traveling or have traveled the world, some are doing their dream courses or jobs or internships, some are at comfortable places in their lives, some are still fighting their own battles.

So when persons who don't work hard and mock at others who do, or boasts how slacking and inaction gets them away, I get appalled, disgusted. It's like spitting on the efforts of those who were working their asses off for their ideals while you were doing god knows what.

Anyway... I've got some time on my hands now that I've deactivated facebook until my thesis is done. So I'll probably start writing more, at least for my own reflection's sake (even though these hours should be spent on reading journals). It feels weird because you feel entirely cut off from your social world. What do you do on that long bus journey? During waits (although it's almost never me)? After showers? Before bedtime? (how much time exactly do people spend on fb???). Now that I've gone cold turkey for a week, I'd say it gets easier. Gen still updates me on scandals or funny stories every now and then. I read the ALOT of news (BBC, CNA repeat refresh).  I even have time to do quiet time. I'm thinking... maybe I don't want to return to facebook.

PS. I want to thank Ben for showing me that it is possible to get out of facebook for an extended period of time hahaha.

Inhibition's bound to kill me someday.
Too bad we're all built differently and that's how it is.

Me: "Hey what are you watching? Secret circle?" (saw it on tv downstairs)
Mel: "Ya." (annoyed that she had to pause the show to talk)
Me: "What's it about?"
Mel: "Tskkkk. It's about a group of witches, and they form a circle."
Me: "And it's a secret?" (Mel smiles)

What are kids watching these days!

But I still love her la.. seeing my baby sister graduating yesterday made me a proud kor. Accompanying feelings were that of oldness and nervous anticipation of what it means for me when my turn comes next. Just read that scientists ascertained time passes slower at higher ground due to gravitational pull on the clock (proving Einstein's proposed theory of relativity). I need dig deep into the ground for my final months...
