Dasavatara is an in-depth commentary on the divine pastimes of Ten Manifestations of Godhead. The lyrical poems Gita-govinda (the Song of the Lord) and Dasavatara-stotra (poem of the Ten Divine manifestation of God) are both written by Sri Jayadeva Gosvami. Since hundreds of years they are sung daily before the Deity of Lord Jagannatha in the famous pilgrimage town of Puri, India. Jayadeva Gosvami's Dasavatara-stotra is respected everywhere in India. The ten Divine Descends of God occupy a special position in the Vedic Cosmology.
