Day 5

I know its ridiculous to feel as though I haven't accomplished anything with these days off!

I finished (minus the zipper) the Giant Man Sweater. I've finished ALL the Giftmas knits - minus two monster arms, but to be honest, I am fucking sick of knitting small body parts. Its all good, I'll still finish the last one today.

I even managed to finish a sweater and a Giftmas stocking for myself! Its not the greatest FO ever, but I made the whole thing in less than 24 hours, and I'll probably felt it down a bit someday.

Today I need to force myself to go out and buy some wrapping paper, I ran out last night and I still have a few things to finish up. I really don't want to go outside, I've been slacking in the personal hygiene portion of life the past few days because I haven't needed to be anywhere. Its catching up with me. Ew.

I'm going to have another cup of coffee, work on the last 2 arms and then make myself head out for a bit.

And then probably eat more chocolate...

Long Days Off

Considering my last post was about over working myself into exhaustion it seems somewhat fitting that today I'm writing about having  five days off in a row.

Today is Day 2.

Day 1 consisted of finishing a Monkey Sock, which is lovely, its been years since I've done a sock with any sort of pattern. I used Socks That Rock: Lightweight in the Pride colour way. I got the stitches picked up for the zipper band on the Giant Man Sweater and I got a little bit of work done on one of the monsters. I even managed to do some cooking, cleaning and socializing!

Today I'm going to finish the Giant Man Sweater (minus the zipper, because I haven't got one yet. I want to finish the pink monster, and I have one monster that still needs a pair of arms. One monster needs to be started and finished, but I can do that tomorrow. Then all the GIftmas knitting will have been completed and I will be able to do the last couple inches on a sweater for myself and do the second Monkey Sock. And I have to go out for coffee because the Mobot bribed me to make sure I leave the apartment today.

All project photos will be posted on Ravelry. You can find me there as JillyGirl.

So much for good intentions!

So long between postings! I figure its because I'm actually happy with my life now, as opposed to years past where I bitch about everything all the time.

I really do miss blogging. I just don't feel like I have the time I once did.

Its funny that my last post is bitching about working a long stretch. Today was supposed to be my last day of 12 in a row. INstead I called in sick yesterday and today. I managed to work myself into exhaustion.

The plus side of this is that I'm nearly done my Giftmas Knitting. I still have some little odds and ends to do, but I should be ok.

But that's not what I wanted to write about today.

I've been thinking about what I'll be knitting in 2012. I've been thinking about it for a long time but I didn't want to post too soon.

My goal is to knit primarily from my stash. After some basic math it turns out I have about 4 years worth of yarn in my stash, and we all know that I won't stop buying yarn. I do need to cut back on the yarny acquisitions though. I can't stick to any sort of stash diet. You know that, and I know that. I find that poverty works best for slow stash enhancement, if I put most of my spare cash into the Down Payment for a House fund then I will be forced to use the stash.

I have a truly amazing collection of yarn, and its really a shame that I don't use more of it.

I want to use the blog more in 2012 and really document my knitting life. As soon as Ravelry came in to existence I fell away from the world of blogging, it was just easier to have it all in one place.

For now, I'm going to go rip all the stash out of the cubbies and re organize it. Its going to be epic.

(no subject)

Holy crap am I tired today!

I think I'm in the middle of a 7 day stretch of working. But to be honest, I don't actually know when my last day off was. I know I went camping at some point, but that wasn't really a weekend of R and R.

The thing is, to make any kind of living I need to work 2 jobs. So even on the posted schedule it may look like I don't work that much, I really do.

I like Thursdays though. I don't work until 5 so I can spend the day doing the laundry and catching up on the dishes if I need too.

I also rejoined the gym. I've only been twice so far, but it feels good to be doing something active again. And I figure now's a good time to start getting healthy if we plan on breeding anytime soon. I even started taking vitamins and I found a new doctor!

Too tired to knit this afternoon though, so am hoping for a nap while the last bit of laundry dries.

No Title Here

It's been awhile since I posted...wonder what happened to that whole "I'm going to post more regularly" thing.

July was the most fucked up month I've experienced in a very long time. With my 2 jobs my hours got all kerfuffled and mixed up - that was fun. Then there was the whole Broken Elbow thing, there was also 2 weddings and a funeral (insert bad movie puns here), 2 sets of house guests, sleep deprivation and all other manner of BS.

That said, we survived it, I think its only been the past couple days where life feels like "normal" again. I like it. There is a mountain of laundry and a mountain of dishes. But its all good.

Still working two jobs and poor, but hopefully that will sort itself out, I really need to get some resumes out there. I ended up wait listed for my program of choice, but I'm not too upset, I was toying with the idea of not going back to school right away anyways. This way, I can get a FT job that pays decently.

Tomorrow I'm off. I'd planned on doing nothing but sitting on my arse and knitting, but I think I'll do the laundry and dishes in there too. Just to get up and stretch my legs.  The Mobot  is on vacation right now, so it will be nice to just chill and sound some time together. I kind of hope it stays grey and cool like it is today. I remember I used to really enjoy hot summer days, not so much anymore. Must be getting old.

All pissed off and no place to go

I've been wide awake since 5:30 this morning and it pisses me off. I'm crabby and frustrated and haven't bothered to make coffee yet. And I work at 11, so by the time I need to get ready to go, I'll be exhausted. Bright side? I've done the dishes and packed up the cookies I made last night.

Right now, I'm mostly just mad that we've spent our money on frivolities like "rent" and "food" and now have nothing left over to buy a first aid kit with.

You see, the Mobot had an incident on Tuesday with his bike that resulted in some nasty road rash and a broken elbow. I handled it well, I mopped up blood and we went to the ER. But don't get me started on the nurse who bandaged his arm full of dirt.

All I want is enough to buy a decent first aid kit. I found some peroxide and polysporin. But you know how I had to bandage it? With a fucking tea towel and tensor bandage. Which shockingly, did not last the night. So we both woke up to discover his open wound was pressed up against my back. It was not pleasant.

Fuck I'm tired. Going to try and snooze on the couch for a bit.

Rainy Days and Mondays

Aren't getting me down or anything, I'm just a little bummed at my serious lack of cash. The bills and stuff are taken care of and we have lots of food. Sadly, I have no spending money and I have plans tomorrow and now on Monday. Its ok, I mean, I don't need anything. It will be good, albeit incredibly painful to go to a fiber fest and not buy anything. But seriously? Ouch.

Life is pretty good. I'm happy and in love with an amazing guy and we're perfect for each other. Cheesy but true.

Not much else going on in my world, two days in a row with nothing to do but sit and knit is lovely, but rather unfulfilling. But the kitchen is nice and clean!

Deadline Looming

Yeah...so my brilliant plan to finish all the WIPs by month's end? So not happening. I won't actually be having any FOs, let alone all of them!

But it's ok. I've kept very busy on my days off. I now have all my clothes at the apartment. I packed them all, and then purged as I unpacked. A little backwards maybe, but it worked well for me.

I suppose I did finish one thing - a dish mat. Just a big garter stitch square to go under the drain tray. It's working out pretty well so far and ate up two balls of yarn!

I picked up a package today, since I started knitting soakers for the future spawn, I figured I *had* to have lanolin now. It's weird stuff, I put some on my hands, rubbed it in, and then attempted to wash my hands. I can see why this stuff is used for waterproofing!!

Today is for hanging out with my buddy Zombiemedic, I believe the plan is lunch, IKEA, Michaels, and a brief stop at work to pick up my cheque.

I still want to finish some socks for the Mobot before next week, I'm a little more than two inches in on the second sock, so as long as I keep working on them, I should be fine!

I have a plan!

Although I'm not so sure it's going to work out the way I wanted!

I was determined to finish all my WIPs by the end of the month. I have 8 projects on th ego right now, and only 4 days left. I believe that there are 4 pairs of socks; 2 second socks and 2 first socks. I've got a sweater that needs sleeves, a dish mat that's about halfway done and a blanket that is waiting on another ball of yarn to come in the mail, and a scarf that has 500 stitch long rows.

Somehow, I don't think I'm going to finish any of them, let alone ALL of them!

I'm going to keep working on my dishmat today until its time to go to work, because if nothing else, big needles will go the quickest!!

I also want to design a pair of stuffies. I have the inspiration, I have the plan, I just don't have the time to sit down and do it all!!

My Life as a Domestic Goddess

Working 2 jobs implies that the person working the 2 jobs would be busy all the time, exhausted and cranky because there is not enough knitting time. Not this person! I'm working 2 part time jobs, but I'm still sitting on the couch 2-4 days a week! Which is great. You'd think the WIPs would just be falling off the needles! Which is true to a point. Mostly, I do a few row on a WIP and then cast on 2 new things. Its  pretty ridiculous. I could have finished a blanket a few days ago, but I ran out of yarn. Again. So I ordered a single ball of the yarn I needed and hopefully it will arrive soon.
I have 3 pairs of socks on the go, a plain pair each for the Mobot and myself and one of my personal sock club grab bags. I started a scarf for the Mobot last night. 500 stitches on 3.75mm needles. If that doesn't scream "I Love You" I don't know what does! I've got just the sleeves left to do on a top down raglan for myself, even though its just plain boring stockinette, its bulky and a bit awkward right now. Today I finished off a pony that was supposed to be for one of the Mobot's nieces; but I'm not happy how it came out, so I cast on a monster from Rebecca Danger's "Big Book of Knitted Monsters". I'm pretty happy with it so far, but I'm only about 25 rows in. All of the projects are up on Rav, and some of them even have pictures.

I didn't do much today on the housekeeping front. I mean, I folded the clean clothes and did the few dishes, but I can't really unpack and store my stuff properly until I get a couple more shelves. I traded one of my shelves for one of the ones in the yarn shop, and we're going to swap another couple. The ones I have match the ones in the shop better than the ones she has. And hers are really too tall to be practical in the shop, but they work perfect in the apartment. I still need the 5x5 Expedit from IKEA, but I'm currently depressingly poor so that needs to wait for a paycheque or too. But that's part of being a grown up. Right?

I've drank far too much coffee today, but I've actually eaten a couple times today which is better than what I can usually say for myself.

I meant to go over to the house today, but I was too lazy, maybe the Mobot will wander over with me tonight....At the very least I should walk and take a couple library books back.
