There’s a $15 new pledge level for the Banshee Beach Backerkit: e-copies of all three Tom Vargas novels (Frozen Dreams, Tinsel Rain, and Banshee Beach)! EPUB for the first two; EPUB and PDF for Banshee Beach. Plus, all stretch goals, and your name in the Thanks section.

Technically, if you hit the special Patreon pledge level, this is functionally equivalent to backing at that level, then getting the two books as add-ons. But in case you didn’t back as a Patron (or you’re not a Patron), you can straighten that all out now! Just saying, that’s all.

Book of the Week, Baltimore Omnibus, Volume 2.

I picked up Volume 2 of Mike Mignola’s Baltimore Omnibus (an epic World War I comic of vampires and monsters) a while back… then promptly lost it. This took some doing, as this thing is huge. Maybe six hundred pages?

Anyway, I lost it, took the house apart trying to find it, gave up, then my wife found it this morning while went looking for something else. So I’m finally gonna read it this morning. Unless I lose it again. You never know, hey?

Thirteen days left on the Banshee Beach Backerkit! And I’d like all of you to spread the word.

It’s been a rough year for crowdfunding, so I’m very happy that BANSHEE BEACH has hit its funding goal, and the first stretch goal as well. There’s more stretch goals, though! Including the one where I get to pay the artist and editor more for their work, because, well, it’s been a rough year for everybody in the creative fields, honestly.

I actually HAVE words for this still from The Magician’s Nephew.

I am simply not using them, out of respect for C.S. Lewis’s sensibilities. Suffice it to say that this is not Uncle Andrew. It may end up being in fact the most offensive portrayal of an original character from the book in the entire movie, and I am not excluding the lion.

PS: The His Dark Materials series never took off for a reason, Hollywood. There’s no really compelling reason to try to make it happen anyway.
