J. Anderson Coats has received five Junior Library Guild awards, won two Washington State Book awards, won the New York Historical Children’s Book Prize, and earned starred reviews from Kirkus, School Library Journal, the Horn Book Review, and Shelf Awareness.

Her newest books are The Unexpected Lives of Ordinary Girls, a middle-grade historical inspired by the life of her grandmother; and The Loss of the Burying Ground, a YA pirates-and-castaways action-adventure with a twist.
