We rode about 12 miles today
Our ride at Marie Creek was full of fall color.
Sammie couldn't figure out what to do with the bunnies, they usually just ignored her until she got too close.
Our resident bunnies, they just showed up one day and have stuck around.
The day after this ride the horses were very tired, this should have been at the bottom of this post but I don't know how to move them around.
Some of the roads up in the mountains go thru instead of around.
This is called a steam donkey, they hauled this in with a big mule team from the nearest town 14 miles away, I can't imagine how they did it when you look at the pictures below this thing sits on the hillside above the stream, it had cables attached to it and to the trees they cut down then it pulled the logs down the hill so they could be dumped into the water to be transported down stream to the St. Joe river.
The loggers would dam the stream and when the winter snows melted they would open the dam and let all the water carry the logs downstream.
It was very quiet and peaceful back in these woods, I wish we could show how far down the mountain we had to ride to get to this stream, the people who lived in the logging camps lived a rough life. The horses were not happy about going up and down these hills.
This is remains of one of the log cabins in the logging camp next to the stream.
This cabin was in a different area of the forest.
This little lake is way back in between some mountains and its way up high not down in a valley

This is the deer that sammie touched noses with, unfortunately we did not have the camera out yet when that happened. You can see one of the other deer in the back and sammie at the feet of the first deer, that day there were four deer in our yard going after the apples in the trees out front.
