Nursing workforce challenges continue to affect hospitals across New York State, creating an urgent need for strategies that strengthen recruitment, retention, and the practice environment. This article examines how Magnet® and Pathway to Excellence® designations, together with the Mother Cabrini Health Foundation Nursing Initiative, can support hospitals in addressing these challenges. The authors highlight the importance of organizational structures and investments that promote nursing excellence, strengthen the nursing workforce, and create environments where nurses can thrive. By bringing together workforce data, organizational excellence frameworks, and targeted investment, these efforts offer insights for nurse leaders seeking sustainable approaches to workforce challenges.
