About Us

The Institute for Astronomy (IfA) is one of threeĀ major components of theĀ School of Physics and AstronomyĀ at theĀ University of Edinburgh.

The IfA shares the historic and beautifulĀ Royal Observatory Edinburgh (ROE)Ā site on Blackford Hill with theĀ UK Astronomy Technology Centre (UK ATC). This allows the astronomers within the University to work in close scientific collaboration with theĀ STFC-funded scientists and instrument builders within the UK ATC.
