Feast of San Gennaro ~ Wikipedia

I'm hoping to return for this year's milestone festival which kicked off Thursday in Little Italy. My favorite - among the endless mouthwatering choices - are fresh Zeppoli.

The Feast of San Gennaro in New York City has officially kicked off its historic 100th anniversary celebration, transforming Lower Manhattan's Little Italy into a vibrant sea of green, white, and red. This year is a major milestone honoring a century of Italian-American heritage, community, and culinary tradition.

What began in 1926 as a modest, one-day block party organized by Neapolitan immigrants on Mulberry Street has grown over the last 100 years into an 11-day, 11-block spectacular. The festival originally served to keep a connection alive to San Gennaro the patron saint of Naples. Today, it stands as New York City's longest-running and most iconic street festival.

The festival features carnival games, live musical stages, and its trademark Ferris wheel that lifts riders right up past four-story apartment windows. Special events are planned throughout the week, including a dedicated Opera Night at the Feast on September 21st. The peak of the celebration takes place on Saturday, September 26th, featuring the Grand Procession where the statue of San Gennaro is carried through the streets of Little Italy.
