Above And Beyond For The Price
Ordered this as a spare for my gaming PC, here are my first impressions. I'll be comparing this to the Xbox One controller, as it is the most similar in shape and design to that. The weight/feel of the controller is decent. Not quite as heavy as an Xbox One controller, but not overly light either. It sits comfortably in the hands. The matte finish and rubbery sides are very pleasant to the touch, and overall better than the Xbox One controller. The triggers/bumpers are the only pieces that are actually inferior to the Xbox One controllers - the triggers aren't angled out nearly as much, so they're a tiny bit harder to reach. This is easy to overlook, as many controllers are designed this way. The bumpers are a bit small for my taste, but again not so bad as to majorly detract from the overall functionality of the controller. So cord is of the flat design, which will probably help to reduce tangles. So those are all the basics for an okay generic controller. The next couple of features are what actually makes it really neat, in my opinion. Both the crescent at the top and the buttons are backlit, and the lighting for each can be controlled separately. You can set each one to stay on, breathe, or turn off independent of one another, which is a pretty rare feature. Definitely adds a "cool" factor. Haven't done much testing with the JD-switch, but the controller vibrates when you hit the switch button so you can't accidentally turn it off without knowing. The controller also comes with a manual that explains all of these features. The English isn't 100% perfect, but nothing too egregious. The information you need to work the thing is all there with pictures to boot. Overall, for the price, I'm pleasantly surprised. I can't speak to the durability of the device yet, but will update soon(having my little brother over for a gaming session soon). If this remains unupdated, you can assume that nothing has broken on it yet!

I have been using the controller on my pc for a few weeks now and i think its a great controller. first of all the controller has this texture on the outside that makes the whole controller grippy. its not rough, more soft but it feels good in your hands. all the buttons are backlit as well as a light on the front. you can change these to make them pulse or have a breathing effect but the light is always a pale blue. there are 2 buttons on the back, one turns on and off the rumble feature, and the other says it is a linear lt/rt thing that i dont know what does. the buttons are easily pressed by accident as they lay right where my middle finger does but hitting them never interrupts gameplay, it just makes the controller vibrate. the buttons and triggers have a nice feel to them. the only thing i dont like it is seems when you press dows on the d-pad the button gets stuck. not sure if its just mine or all of them but i use it so infrequently i dont think it really matters much.

Don't be fooled by the price, this is a fantastic XBOX 360 clone. It has that "silky soft" plastic body that is oh, so comfortable to hold for hours. It's got great rumble, I also like the flat cable they used and it's worth every penny of the 25 bucks their asking...for now. I will update this review every 3 months for a year. However, as it stands now, this is an all around excellent gamepad, buttons feel and work great as well as the directional pad, which feels better than the original XBOX design. The left & right sticks feel very tight and their clicks when pressing them feel good as well. Finally, the left & right bumpers & triggers also feel and work as they should. As I already stated it all depends on how long they last, all this "Gamepad Goodness" is meaningless if they break in a couple of months so stay tuned as I will update this review for the rest of this year.

    TWO YEARS LATER- Still good.
Reviewed in the United States on July 25, 2019

I've had this controller for two years now and it's seen some pretty decent use. This is a very easy-to-use controller, it's quite literally plug-and-play. No downloading drivers from the internet, thank goodness. It's also a quite responsive controller, the buttons, joysticks, bumpers and triggers all respond quick and well, and the triggers respond very nicely to varying degrees of force, and the button on the back-left lets you switch from normal sensitivity to high if you want.

After two years of playing with this controller it has seen some wear- a couple of the buttons like to stick a tiny bit. The joysticks have always been rather stiff to push down on, but it's forgettable. The vibration is still working just as well as it did when I first bought it too. The vibration gets to be a tiny bit much after a while for me, but for most it's probably fine.

There are TWO MAJOR FLAWS with this controller though: There is an LED light on it that flashes like a freakin' strobe if you touch the triggers, and it annoys the hell out of me, so I took some electric tape and covered it up. Also the semi-circle bit with a backlight is kinda bright so I took a Sharpie and colored that over, now it's easier on the eyes. The second flaw is that for people with long fingers, this thing will cause some definite aching after prolonged play. It's too small for me. (That's why I'm back on Amazon two years later looking for a new, bigger controller) If you've got long fingers (not necessarily big palms, it's the fingers that ache the most) this will very likely be uncomfortable for you after several hours of continuous play, just to let you know.

All in all, great controller, easy to use, stands the test of time...but I wish they'd make it bigger, and make it without that infernal blinking LED.

Honestly I was skeptical about the controller ... I had read some reviews saying it was hollow cheap quality but when I got it ... It was everything but that .. The rubber on the top gives it a nice expensive feel.. the weight is not to heavy .. Feels real sturdy .. As for the Dpad it feels alright they do make slightly different noises but that's a minor complaint .. As for complicity ... It's super easy plug and play .. for me I bought it for a PlayStation 2 emulator so I did have to set it up but for steam and other games it works perfectly I recommend this controller to anyone

This would be an AMAZING controller for the price, if not for one major design flaw: the extra buttons on the backside of the controller are in just about the worst place they could be. Anywhere else -- like higher up near the trigger housing, or on the front above the back/start buttons -- and they wouldn't be an issue, but I've found it nearly impossible not to hit them during regular play. The controller rumbles when this happens, every time. It's incredibly annoying. What's worse, they seem completely pointless: One allegedly controls "linear" trigger movement, but I can't notice any change in trigger operation one way or the other, and the other turns vibration on/off even though every PC game made in at least the last decade already has menu options for that. I'll probably end up taking the controller apart to shave the buttons down myself, or get rid of them entirely so long as it doesn't affect any other functionality.

It's a shame, because the rest of the controller is actually quite nice! It has a good weight and very solid feeling construction. The front half of the shell has a pleasant matte finish, with some rubber insets on the side for grip.

Analog sticks are snappy. The face buttons are a little on the small side, which is actually really good for hitting awkward parallel combinations (X+B, Y+A) without having to use a claw grip.

I really like the d-pad: it's stiff in a way that makes it kind of loud in use, but also results in far fewer accidental diagonal inputs than I get with other, more expensive pads. It has a slick finish to it, but this is countered by the center being recessed slightly.

The cord is very lightweight and has a little attached velcro strap for better storage. It doesn't sound like much, but it's the kind of quality of life feature you'd never expect to see on a $20 controller.

Most of the lighting features can thankfully be turned off, like the obnoxious curved bar at the top (that "pulses" for... reasons?), except for the small indicator lights at the bottom, but I don't find them to be too distracting.

Triggers could use some improvement. They have too much sideways wiggle, though they feel fine in use.

If it wasn't for the extra underside buttons this would be an easy 5 star review.

(Was) A good alternative to the Xbox controller

So far it has lasted longer than both my Xbox controllers, which boggles my mind.

The only downsides are the triggers which are not as subtle/precise as the xbox controller. So this makes it difficult to drive a car slowly for example. Also the material that covers the controller gets defaced quite easily and I do not like the texture of the thumb sticks. Granted, these sticks have so far lasted longer than the Xbox sticks, which again boggles my mind. I also love the dedicated buttons on the bottom that turns vibration on/off, very handy.

All in all a good and affordable alternative to the Xbox controller.

Edit: Changed to one star as of Sept 2017

Unfortunately it has fallen victim to the same problem I have with the xbox controllers. The controller disconnects randomly due to broken cable and sometimes gets stuck in player 2 which makes it unresponsive in-game. I've since learned that this problem has to do with the area where the cable connects to the controller. Bending the cable backwards under the controller and taping it down provides a temporary fix.

Great controller! Very happy I bought it for my PC. Much better than having to deal with micro usb cables that constantly bend and break and disconnect. I just wish the rumble buttons would be removed or relocated, they're in a horrible spot where you can accidentally press them super easily. That's quite literally my only gripe with this.

And the light on the bottom of the controller that flashes when it rumbles, that's just dumb. I sharpied over it so now I don't see it, but it shouldn't even be there to begin with. Definitely still a great controller though, and definitely worth the $20. I like the LEDs and rubbery grips on the side, and the red color scheme.

I bought this for PC and to use with a galaxy phone. So far the controller has been great on the PC. It's very responsive, comfortable and everything just seems to work perfect for us. The controller is comfortable for me as well as my younger son who is 13. It's not a large controller so someone with really big hands might have an issue with it but for us it's perfect.

As far as using it with a phone I cannot give a recommendation. The dongle was not shipped with the controller. I did contact the manufacturer and they were very helpful but in the end just refunded us a small amount to purchase another dongle. (No biggie)

I would say that for the price you really can't beat this controller. If I was to purchase another controller I would go with another one of these.

How and why I rated this below if interested in longer read. OK out of the box it looked good. (if you care for that) it felt good in my hands, a tad small but this is something I complain about with most. I have big hands. It did not feel cheap like I suspected it would. It actually felt stronger then the Xbox ones. The plastic almost feels like a real hard rubber. Plug and play worked on first go, 4 indicator lights tell you how you are connected. i.e first two means PC, last 2 Android, etc etc.

A big concern I had was with the buttons on the bottom that others mentioned. But my fingers settle a few centimeters above them. (of course we all have different style/size hands so this will very between people. Another concern from reading the reviews was the lighting on it that some get distracted by. I did not find this. But I think its a preference and also lighting in the room.

Here's the skinny. It works as good or better then I hoped, it feels good in my hands and most important, it works well.

The cord is not circular but flat, I do not know id this is good or bad, but was the deciding factor to buy for me. This is the single same prob, I have had over and over again with xbox controllers. The wire kinks near the connection inside and ultimately fails. I think this cord aims to fix that (since Microcrap does not want to do anything about this known issue for years.) To early to tell if this is good or bad but it can not be any worse then the less then 3 months I get from an xbox controller.

Delivery on time, as I expect from Amazon, I am very happy overall, hence my 5 stars. I hesitate to say a good cheap alternative to xbox. But the skinny is, If it last me more then 3 months and the wire does not cause failure, then I would say that it is BETTER then Xbox.

    DISCLAIMER

I am not going to rate this controller based on $60+ xbox type controllers. That would be unfair to the seller. You know when you buy a controller under 30 bux that you gamble with that money. The seller mentions here, the website and even in the manual that they have a 3 month no questions asked return policy. WHY, well its obvious, the seller knows you may get a DOA. Because the manufacturer is in China and sometimes a bad controller will get through. The seller is trying everything possible to make sure the client is happy.
