Cassandra Wilson (Jackson, Misisipi, AEB, 1955eko abenduaren 4a – ibidem, 2026ko irailaren 1a) estatubatuar jazz abeslaria izan zen eta laurogeita hamarreko hamarkadan emakumezko jazzaren lehen ahotsetako bat bilakatu zen. Fusioa izan zen bere estiloa.

Lan ibilbidea

Hirurogeita hamarreko hamarkadaren erdialdean abesten hasi zen, material sorta zabala interpretatuz. New Orleansen urtebete eman ondoren, Wilson New Yorkera joan zen 1982 urtean, eta Dave Hollandekin eta Abbey Lincolnekin hasi zen lanean. Steve Coleman ezagutu ostean, M-Base Collectiveko abeslari nagusia bilakatu zen. Free funk taldeetan abeslari batentzat benetan lekurik ez bazegoen ere, ahal zuen neurrian lan ona egin zuen.
