Greptile SummaryThe PR fixes nested postinstall invocations by adding the exact tool name and concrete version to environment-derived toolsets.
Confidence Score: 5/5The PR appears safe to merge. No blocking failure remains; the previously reported backend-identity loss is addressed by constructing the postinstall request from the exact installing tool name. Important Files Changed

- Line 3566: Update the post-install environment export around install_version_
so GitHub-backed PipxRequest::Git requests resolved from "latest" export the
concrete installed version rather than the unchanged "latest" value. Reuse the
resolved ToolVersion when setting tool_env_var_name, while preserving existing
behavior for explicitly versioned installs, and add a regression test covering
nested mise commands.

* chore(n0): resync 22 Claude/codex manifests; Fable 5.1 reaches the corpus Claude Code self-updated TWICE mid-session (2.1.251 -> 2.1.257 -> 2.1.258, aef74afe01f65b602258d6102b0da9730ac6f0aa), so the corpus was describing a harness we no longer run. 22 Claude/Anthropic/codex manifests advanced: 15 moved, 7 silent no-ops, 22/22 rc 0. Fable 5.1 went from 0 files to 133 in sources/claude-code-docs/, control-armed both times against "Opus 5" (191 -> 194) so that zero was real. It is claude-fable-5-1: 1M context, 128K output, $10/$50 per MTok, and now the DEFAULT Fable model -- but a Claude apps gateway session still resolves bare fable/best to Fable 5 (claude-code-docs/content/CHANGELOG.md:94). model_limits.py enumerated only claude-fable-5 and was therefore blind to the model that just became the default; it now lists both, because the two genuinely coexist. Two things this round established that cost more than the resync itself: 1. A codex lane has TWO independent sandbox walls, neither previously documented. Writes outside the workspace are refused, so uv cannot open its cache and every uv-backed `mise run` exits 2; and network egress is blocked, so every fetch exits 128 with `Could not resolve host`. Both armed both directions. The second cost four dispatches of one lane, because that string is exactly what persistence-gate-retry.md classifies as a transient worth one retry -- so the documented remedy made it worse each time. ai-cli-invocation.md now carries both patterns; #652 proposes wrapping the shape in a task. 2. `kb-update` resolves the manifest's OWN ref, not the newest tag (manifest.py:213), so a version-pinned source short-circuits rc 0 "already at latest" -- a silent no-op that reads as success. Advancing one needs a hand-edited ref with the commit line LEFT at its old value, or kb-update skips and emits no changed-page worklist. Also: the dated codex-only ration in .claude/CLAUDE.md is replaced by a dateless rule (a rule with a clock in it goes silently false, which is how that one failed), and #540's write-only memory store is re-measured on the issue. Gates: 8 PASS at 41b3363 (dirty tree, describing this work). No kb-review receipt yet -- N0g owns that, and kb-ship correctly refuses. Co-Authored-By: Claude Opus 5 (1M context) <noreply@anthropic.com> Claude-Session: https://claude.ai/code/session_01WGFVQMcnMqaW19xxXFNBJZ * feat(n0b): extract 133 Claude Code doc pages into the graph corpus Phase N0b of the 2026-09-01 resync round. Ray's scope, settled by AskUserQuestion: skip the six-language SDK-snippet duplicates and the support/billing FAQs, keep the substantive Claude Code documentation. Two committed extraction chunks, 6,462 nodes / 8,478 edges / 344 hyperedges: claude-code-docs-2026-09-01-docs.json 132 pages, 6,361 nodes, 8,358 edges claude-code-changelog-2026-09-01-docs.json 1 page, 101 nodes, 120 edges Both from sources/claude-code-docs at pinned commit 1e8a2c48 and sources/claude-code at v2.1.258 (aef74afe), captured_at 2026-09-01. FIRST extraction, not a re-extraction. kb-update's worklist says "re-extract", but nothing under sources/extractions/ carried a source_file under claude-code-docs/ or claude-code/ - 0 nodes each, against a control arm of 274 for agent-harness-docs. The chunks NAMED claude-code-docs-*.json hold agent-harness-docs/... identities. Nothing supersedes; all net-new. Cost is per PAGE, not per byte. Measured over two pilot waves: 40 pages averaging 2.6 KB cost 5,118,126 subagent tokens, ~128K each - about what a 16 KB guide costs, because the agent's fixed overhead dominates. That measurement drove the scope cut; the full 390-page worklist would have cost ~60M. Actual spend for the chosen 133: 22,147,874 subagent tokens over six waves, 133/133 agents succeeded, 0 errors, 0 empty results. Verification: - kb-validate-chunks over all 133 per-page chunks: rc 0 - kb-validate-chunks over both assembled chunks: rc 0 - control-armed: deleting one node's _origin gives rc 1, so the gate discriminates - assembly conserves: 6,361 + 101 reconciles exactly to the per-chunk sum - 6 advisory direction hints, all read aloud and correct as emitted; each fires on a source node NAMED *_requirement / *_required, a naming pattern rather than a reversed edge - lint rc 0, test rc 0 Two partials the lanes reported rather than hid: agent-view's closing 56-row version-history table was read column-wise and is summarised in one node nothing else depends on; agent-sdk/python lost the tails of a few very wide table cells, mostly cross-doc link text. Note for review: the docs chunk is 7.9 MB, ~10x the largest previously committed extraction chunk (graphify-2026-08-06 at 816 KB). Also adds docs/artifacts/the-390-page-docs-run.html, the published cost page the scope decision was made against. Co-Authored-By: Claude Opus 5 (1M context) <noreply@anthropic.com> Claude-Session: https://claude.ai/code/session_01WGFVQMcnMqaW19xxXFNBJZ * chore(n0b): record the ingestion outcome in work-memory Closes the kb-curator loop for N0b: kb-remember (outcome useful) + kb-reflect (346 memories: 234 useful, 0 dead ends, 112 corrected). Both chunks merged rc 0 with conserved arithmetic and 0 replaced: changelog 492,654 + 101 = 492,755 nodes; hyperedges 140 + 3 = 143, 0 lost docs 492,755 + 6,361 = 499,116 nodes; hyperedges 143 + 341 = 484, 0 lost 16,397 communities carried forward both times. The prose graph MORE THAN DOUBLED: 4,868 -> 11,330 nodes, 14,893 links, 484/484 hyperedges kept. CLAUDE.md's 4,868 figure is now stale by 2.3x. REFUTES a standing trap. The 2026-09-01d handoff recorded "the graph is still unusable: mise run kb-query fails closed rc 3 ... Two independent lanes hit this." Control-armed today: a broad query at the default budget returns rc 3 while its own message says the result was TRUNCATED and "this prefix is not evidence of absence" (257 nodes found, 23 shown, ~2000-token budget); the same graph with a narrower query and --budget 8000 returns rc 0 and a complete answer over 81 nodes / 111 edges. rc 3 is a truncation guard, not corruption. What actually failed on 2026-08-31 was kb-build (full rebuild) — a different path from merge, which was healthy throughout. The build stamp still records that failure, correctly; confronting it is N0c. End-to-end verified: PostToolUseFailureHookInput returns from claude-code-docs/content/en/docs/claude-code/agent-sdk/python.md, a node this round extracted, retrieved through the query path. Co-Authored-By: Claude Opus 5 (1M context) <noreply@anthropic.com> Claude-Session: https://claude.ai/code/session_01WGFVQMcnMqaW19xxXFNBJZ * chore(currency): bump mise 2026.8.15 -> 2026.9.0 across all three pin sites mise self-updated to 2026.9.0 on 2026-09-01, which reopened S1 hours after it landed as complete. Ray's call (AskUserQuestion): fix it now rather than defer. All three sites move in ONE change, per the 2026-08-19 ruling that both min_version keys track the reviewed version: sources/mise.manifest ref v2026.8.15 -> v2026.9.0 commit 06c9ad7a... -> c6f6130a03205ee1f9b63142244a8ebff4d1e918 currency.toml expected 2026.8.15 -> 2026.9.0 mise.toml min_version { hard, soft } 2026.8.15 -> 2026.9.0 (still equal, still intentionally inert, per the ruling) kb-currency-check now reports ZERO mise drift; all three lines it raised this morning are gone. Remaining drift is graphify only: the failed build stamp (N0c's subject) and the 0.9.50-vs-0.9.53 pin. Two releases reviewed, v2026.8.16 and v2026.9.0. Neither is breaking here. Two items are recorded in the currency.toml watch note because they are more than a version number: - v2026.8.16 PRESERVES DOUBLE-DASH TASK ARGUMENTS with double_dash="preserve" (jdx/mise#12628). Before it, the first `--` was consumed by the outer CLI parser and lost before reaching the task. Every `mise run kb-* -- <args>` in this repo goes through that path, so this is the release that made the form reliable rather than incidentally-working. - v2026.9.0 fixes postinstall hooks to activate the exact version being installed (jdx/mise#12635). That is ADJACENT to the 2026-08-24 renovate wedge, not the same thing - that was a shim RE-ENTERING an install for a MISSING tool. Filed as "worth re-probing the renovate install", explicitly NOT "the wedge is fixed". Tag resolution CONTROL-ARMED both ways. The documented `gh api repos/jdx/mise/commits/<tag>` call reproduces the OLD pin 06c9ad7a39b162b7952c6c75beb879088f6c29b2 byte-for-byte; the banned `git ls-remote --tags` form returns bf08cf20c24f13ba4d217a42421c1e61c4c4cf8b for v2026.9.0, which is the TAG OBJECT and not the commit. The #395 trap is live. Gates: 8/8 PASS. The pre-commit run carried the honest dirty-tree caveat since these changes were staged; re-run against this commit after it lands. Co-Authored-By: Claude Opus 5 (1M context) <noreply@anthropic.com> Claude-Session: https://claude.ai/code/session_01WGFVQMcnMqaW19xxXFNBJZ * fix(build): first green kb-build since the N0 resync — 3 of our own gates were wrong `mise run kb-build` now exits 0: 359,026 nodes / 806,869 edges / 484 hyperedges, 0 dangling, 0 malformed, stamped `built by graphify 0.9.53`, receipt written. It took eleven runs. Four blockers were genuine; THREE were this repo's own gates, and none was findable until the build reached them: * `graph._run` refused routine merge narration that `graphify_health._ROUTINE_MERGE_PROGRESS` has classified as routine since 2026-08-27 — the same line approved on one path, fatal on another. A cold rebuild re-extracts every source, so the fatal path is the one that fires. * `graphify_ops.label` refused `no LLM backend configured` — the state `do-not.md` #4 REQUIRES, which the function's own comment calls "the clean default". The build failed for being configured correctly. * `_write_build_receipt` demanded a top-level `edges` key. `graph_counts.py` says in its own comment that no graphify graph has one (node-link JSON: `links`, hyperedges under `graph`). It could never have passed, and never had. All three now share one filter / one accessor instead of each carrying a copy, and each is armed in both directions. The corpus cause was NOT the inherited diagnosis: twelve clones held stale sub-graphs anchored at the repo root (~11,990 id collisions -> 0). The approved purge targets were refuted with control arms first — the stale cache mentions the failing source zero times, and 995 of the 1,259 "misfiled" nodes are our own vendored docs, correctly filed. Pin moved to graphify 0.9.53 across all sites; baseline re-derived by a real build (452 -> 471 detected, 444 -> 463 extracted, the +19 accounted for as 19 added files and 0 removed, gap unchanged at 8). New: `mise run kb-extract-census` measures every source in ONE pass instead of one full build per blocker (8 -> 16 -> 31 -> 32 sources over five builds before it existed). 76 of 87 clean, 11 blocked; 8 deferred, 3 registered. Refs #653, #654, #655 Co-Authored-By: Claude Opus 5 (1M context) <noreply@anthropic.com> Claude-Session: https://claude.ai/code/session_013afTJUXjR9nRTtgyRKiZXM * fix(census): the sweep counted sources kb-build never opens, and reported clean without asking Five findings from the cold kb-review lane on 69c126c. Three of them are one shape — report a clean result for a question nobody asked — which is the class this repo has ruled on in kb-session-select, kb-attribute-write, kb-skill-score and skill_lint. The census was the one new tool that did not. Manifest.is_ast_scanned (new, manifest.py): strictly narrower than is_built. The build asks a SECOND question after "is it turned on" — kind = docs sources get no AST pass — and extract_census asked only the first. Measured: 79 built, 8 of them kind = docs, so the build AST-scans 71. codex-docs has been kind = docs since before this branch, has never been opened by a build, and still reached a census blocked list and then a registration. is_built's own docstring says consumers must stop re-deriving the predicate, so the fix is a second NAMED predicate rather than an inline comparison per call site. Also fixed: - SourceOutcome.blocked now includes returncode. fable-advisor exits 1 with an empty graph; it happened to carry residue that caught it, so a source failing closed with clean stderr would have printed ok. - A selected source with no clone lands in Census.missing and in a NOT EXAMINED report section, instead of being dropped. - An all-missing run returns Rc.NOT_RUN (127) rather than printing "0 BLOCKED". - --only naming no AST-scanned source returns Rc.BAD_REQUEST (2) and says which. - Unclassified stderr announces its own elision, as the sibling collision branch already did, under a heading that reads "verbatim". The sixth finding — a race between the census's graphify-out purge and kb-build — is #656, filed rather than fixed: the purge is load-bearing (without it a warm sub-graph makes --force silently incremental on 0.9.50) so the remedy is a lock or a scratch root, and no arm reaches a race from a single-process suite. Arms: .agent/kb/arms/extract-census-cold-review-fixes.toml — 7/7 died, 1/1 control held, tree restored. Every mutation deletes the wiring line rather than renaming a definition. That sweep is a statement about these tests, not about whether a census is the right instrument. Gates at 69c126c: 8 passed, 0 failed. Co-Authored-By: Claude Opus 5 (1M context) <noreply@anthropic.com> Claude-Session: https://claude.ai/code/session_01VzN2b6CAcFXqg18QybquR9 * docs(review): resolve three internal contradictions this branch introduced Cold kb-review round 2 on 3448c38. Six findings, none blocking; these are the three that are contradictions rather than judgement calls, and all three were created or left stale by this branch itself. .claude/agents/kb-codex-advisor.md said the agent exists "while Claude subscription tokens are constrained" (Ray, 2026-08-31) — the exact ration that .claude/CLAUDE.md REMOVED in this same branch. One file said the constraint was lifted while the other gave it as the agent's reason to exist. Rewritten against the dateless lane preference: codex advisors are preferred because a consult spends no Claude tokens, not because a ration is in force. This is tool-currency-and-native-first.md rule 5 — sync the describing docs in the SAME change — failing on a two-file pair inside one diff. sources/ruff.manifest named TWO clearing conditions in one defer_reason, and leaned on the one that cannot fire: #654 is sibling-extension id disambiguation, and the same field records that ruff has ZERO collisions. A deferral whose stated remedy is inapplicable to it never clears. The real condition is accepting a fixture tree as a class. sources/graphify.manifest said "the ref recorded below" and then named kb-pin/openai-cli-backend-v0.9.50, while the ref recorded below reads v0.9.53. The branch is renamed per rebase base, so the comment now says to read the version from the `ref` field rather than restating one that goes stale every rebase. Two further findings are judgement calls, not defects, and are filed rather than guessed at: - #657: --add-dir "$HOME/Library/Caches" over-grants the whole Caches tree and hardcodes the macOS path. Narrowing is untested and could reintroduce the rc=2 failure the flag exists to prevent. - #658: currency.toml's fork justification was verified against v0.9.50 and now names v0.9.53 without re-verification. Round 2 found NO findings in the round-1 fixes, and independently re-ran their mutation arms on a scratch copy rather than taking the spec's word for them. Gates at 3448c38: 8 passed, 0 failed. lint-docs rc=0. Co-Authored-By: Claude Opus 5 (1M context) <noreply@anthropic.com> Claude-Session: https://claude.ai/code/session_01VzN2b6CAcFXqg18QybquR9 * fix(gitignore): the GREEN build's receipt had no ignore rule, and kb-ship found it `graphify-out/build-receipt.json` was untracked and unignored, so the first green `kb-build` in weeks left a permanently dirty tree and `kb-ship` refused before running a gate. `graphify-out/` is an ALLOWLIST in .gitignore, not a wildcard, so every derived file needs its own line. This is the THIRD file to ship without one: the comment on `.build-failure.json` already records `.currency-stamp.json` doing the same, and now records this. What makes it worth a comment rather than a one-line fix: the other two were missed by oversight, this one by UNREACHABILITY. `.build-failure.json` is written when kb-build fails and deleted when it succeeds; `build-receipt.json` is its mirror, written only by a green build. There had not been a green build here in weeks, so the success path had never once executed and no rule was ever needed. That is the same class as the three defects `69c126cb` fixed — a gate downstream of a long-standing failure is unarmed in BOTH directions, and its first execution is what reveals it. Expect more of these as the pipeline stays green. Found by `mise run kb-ship` refusing a dirty tree, not by review: both cold rounds read this branch and neither could see it, because an absent ignore rule is not in the diff. Co-Authored-By: Claude Opus 5 (1M context) <noreply@anthropic.com> Claude-Session: https://claude.ai/code/session_01VzN2b6CAcFXqg18QybquR9 * chore(memory): record this round's three lessons before landing Closes the corpus loop per clear-prep, while the reviewed commit is still an ancestor — graphify-out/memory/ is in review.EXEMPT_PATHS precisely so these can land without invalidating the receipt for 9c7de50. 1. A lane's severity grade is an input, not a verdict. The cold review rated six findings P2; three were P1, all one shape — the census reported a clean result for a question nobody asked. Four existing tools in this repo already REFUSE in that situation; the census was the one that did not. 2. CORRECTED: the fork's rebase debt was reported as 36 commits. It is 0. The count ran against `upstream/main`, a dead v0.1.x branch last touched 2026-05-14 that is not an ancestor of v0.9.53. Upstream's default is `v8`, which IS v0.9.53. A stale ref answers a revision count as confidently as a live one, so the control arm is to resolve the remote's real default first. 3. CORRECTED: a research lane re-derived issue #518 — filed 2026-08-26, already control-armed, three options already written — at ~59k subagent tokens. The record outlives the context, so novelty to the session is not novelty to the project. Search the tracker before dispatching. Two published artifacts from this round are deliberately NOT in this commit: they are not in EXEMPT_PATHS and would invalidate the receipt. They go on a follow-up branch with their own review.
