No audio in Steam Link - Rocksmith 2014 only
Hey guys, I was struggling with this one on my own for a while and I know we have an awesome community out here, I thought I would reach out to see if anyone has some ideas that I haven't tried yet.

I was going to start to try to get Rocksmith 2014 working from Steam Link and using VirtualHere etc. I have read a few people getting this to work and I wanted to give it a try.

Before I could get to any of that, I can't get sound in Steam Link when I launch Rocksmith 2014. All other games that I have tried work great and they all have sound.

I tried a few things. I checked that all my sound drivers on my PC are set to 16 bit 48000 Hz. All of them are set to exclusive mode with the two boxes checked. Playback devices and recording devices. All playback devices are set to stereo.

The config screen in Steam Link before you launch Big Picture is set to stereo. To make things even simpler I went HDMI direct into my TV instead of going through my receiver so there wasn't some weird issue with surround sound or something.

I also did a lot of different settings in my Rocksmith.ini file. Any kind of combinations of the above and setting ExclusiveMode=0 causes me to not have sound, even getting pop-up errors. Setting ForceWDM=1 doesn't seem to make it happy at all.

I should also mention that if I run the game directly at my PC no sound issues at all, just launching regularly or from Big Picture.

One thing that I thought was a smyptom that might help was that when I would launch from Steam Link Rocksmith 2014 and get no audio, when I would exit out of the game and go back to Big Picture I would get no sound in Big Picture until I stopped streaming and started it again.

Any suggestions someone might have? Thanks guys.

Did you take a look through this thread?

It seems that you have the whole audio stereo set up correctly though.

I ma not sure if Rocksmith installs anything other than an audio capture driver when you install it /insert the cable.

But you could try playing about with a workaround that I posted in another thread to help see if that might sort your issue (text pasted below).

Let me know how you get on as I have rocksmith here, along with the realtone cable for my son and would be happy to fire it up through the link to help diagnose any issues.

My setup: on board realtek audio, pair of headphones (3.5). Dvi output to monitor, hdmi output to TV. (dual audio out, doing the following allowed the steam link to output sound as well).

Right click the volume button on the task bar and click 'playback devices' make sure your sound card/USB headset is set to the default playback device.
Above, click on the 'recording devices' tab, now right click somewhere underneath the devices that show up and click 'show disabled devices'.
Click on and enable 'stereo mix'
Now click properties and go to the 'listen' tab.
Tick 'listen to this device' and set playback through this device to 'default playback device'
Apply and you should be good.

This will also allow anyone who has a TV the ability to play audio through the TV and headphones simultaneously.
Hope this helps.
Toidi, thanks for the link and the pasted text suggestion as well. I didn't find the link that you posted so there is some good information in there about VirtualHere that could come in handy. Enabling the 'stereo mix' recording device is really interesting. I am going to try that when I get home. I remember seeing that recording device in my efforts. Thank you very much. I will post and update with how it goes.
I finally got it working! After trying everything, I saw a post somewhere where it said some people has success setting the steam link options to stereo (I was careful to keep this set to stereo). But they also said people had success setting to 5.1. Every other thing that I had read said that Rocksmith doesn't support surround sound. It doesn't make any sense but it worked. I also got the Realtone cable to work with virtualhere. I got it working to a pretty acceptable latency and tomorrow I can trying tweaking settings for latency until I am satified. Toidi, thanks for your post, after going through yours and reading some other posts, somehow i got it working.
I had to turn set exclusive mode to 0 for my audio to work. I even have fairly acceptable latency with some tweaks!
