We've just released an update to the Steam Link firmware.

Changes:

  • Turn off the Steam Controller via the Puck when Steam Link goes to sleep
  • Fixed the Vader 5 Pro in enhanced mode
  • Added support for the GameSir Super Nova in Xbox mode

The previous issue I reported has been fixed. The Steam Link now remains off when turned off with the SC2 connected via the Puck.

Love your work!

I don't know if this is worth worrying about but the Steam Link does not seem to know if the SC2 is turned off. If the Puck is connected, it acts as if a controller is connected even if the controller is off. With the OG controller, the Steam Link would prompt you to connect a controller if the controller was not turned on.

Not really an issue for me, I'm happy the turn off issue has been fixed. Just pointing out a descrepency in how the SC2 works compared to the OG controller, in case anyone cares about that....

Thanks for the report, this is fixed for the next update.
Sorry if it's a dumb question but does the button apply to the Steam Link Android APP? I'm using it on a Android TV with remote, and the controller is connected to PC. The toggle to the performance graphs is a great ideia, but can I use the toggle?

If you want to use the overlay you'll have to have some way of opening the overlay (keyboard or controller) attached to the TV. However, you can also toggle it in the Remote Play settings in Steam while you're streaming.
Thank you, that you guys dont forget the steam link hardware! great support from valve! i love this company. :oheart:

my steam link hardware works great, like on the first day i bought it.
Past few updates not allowing connection to stay up. Closes almost immediately.

What OS is on the host computer? Can you send a link to Steam logs/streaming_log.txt?
I have the following strange Xbox Series X controller issue since the update. I have tested this with another wired controller on both the PC directly und via the steam link. Problem only appears only on steam link. All controller mapings are working properly within the steam controller settings.
In Kingdom Come Deliverance 2, which I am currently playing, however the L3 (left stick press down) to sprint is not working anymore. And in menus and dialog options moving the stick up or down moves the selection 2 lines, always skipping on line. For example, I have 5 dialog options I can effectively only choose option 1, 3, 5. When I keep holding the stick down for example the selection rotates through all options and with good timing I can now release the stick to hit one of the lines I'd like to choose.
Steam controller input on/off doesn't help in anyway.
Sorry for the lengthy post. Before the update everything worked fine.
I have not many other controller supported games installed right know. I checked Songs of conquest. Everything seems to work fine there.

A few questions:
  1. Are you using the Microsoft Wireless Adapter with VirtualHere?
  2. Are you using the Steam beta client on the PC? If so, does it happen if you opt out of the beta?
  3. Can you post a link to the Steam logs\streaming_log.txt so we can see what devices are sent to the PC?

1. I am using a custom Wireless Adapter, it is not the original MS one. But can´t tell which one.
2. No I am not using the beta client
3. https://pastebin.com/sVWwsq63

Thanks for your help!

Everything looks fine in the logs. A few things to try:
  • Does it work normally if you plug it in wired via USB?
  • If not, does it work if you follow these steps to load build 920?

1. No, I think I wrote this already. The problem appears regardless of whether I use a wired Xbox controller, a wireless Xbox controller, or the Steam Controller.

2. Don't know why but firmware rollback didn't work. I did as described, double-checked the forums. Nothing.
I accidentally installed beta build 922. Just for you to know, problem still persisted. I am back on 921 now again.

But I can confirm on build 920 everything worked fine. The problem appeared literally after the update to 921. Played in the evening on the old build, all good, next day, update, started the game, controls were off.

Two other things happened that same day. Kingdom Come Deliverance 2 shipped an update to fix issues with Steam controller input. Steam also shipped an update to fix issues with controller input in Kingdom Come Deliverance 2. It may be that some wires got crossed there. I'll take a look.

It looks like this might be an issue with the game. I can reproduce this even with a local controller connected to the PC. If I'm not streaming, I can navigate menu options one at a time. As soon as I start streaming, I navigate menu options two at a time.

I'll reach out to the developers. Thanks for the report!
