Steam Link

Unable to Connect via Ethernet
I have a 5 year old version of the steam link so idk if this is the issue but for whatever reason I’m unable to connect to the internet via Ethernet cable. I’m forced to use wifi which is pretty garbage when it comes to streaming quality. Lights on the Ethernet port turn on for a couple seconds only when i power on the device but then turn off. I’ve tried factory resetting and that didn’t solve my problem. Checked my wire and it works for other devices. It’s a Cat6a Ethernet cable that’s more than capable. PC is wired in too.
If anyone has any idea why Ethernet would not work please let me know. Not really finding solutions online.

mine wanted to do that too on the latest public build

hit cancel, and power off and on again, it should work as normal wired
If it's STILL not working wired after trying a restart, could you connect it via WiFi temporarily and do 'Save Debug Logs' and then start a streaming session, in order to generate the steamlink_debug.txt over on the host machine?
I’m having this exact same issue and it’s still not working. Did you end up finding a fix?
Same issue here. Currently using build 900 since 924 had issues with WiFi choppiness, which caused me to notice that Ethernet wasn't working. Also odd is that the performance overlay says my ping time is <1ms (direct) - is this from Ethernet or the "Allow Direct Connection (IP Sharing)" option?

SSH'd into the Link and and ran `ip a`, which shows "no carrier" for eth0, so it may be a hardware aging issue.

# ip link
2: eth0: <NO-CARRIER,BROADCAST,MULTICAST,UP8000> mtu 1500 qdisc mq qlen 1000
link/ether e0:31:9e:<-> brd ff:ff:ff:ff:ff:ff

It seems the interface is running at 10Mbps half-duplex as well?

# cat /sys/class/net/eth0/device/modalias
platform:f7b90000.ethernet
# cat /sys/class/net/eth0/speed
10
# cat /sys/class/net/eth0/duplex
half

I ended up giving up and getting an NVIDIA SHIELD which is very good and works amazingly. Highly recommend
