Steam Link

Steam Link

Add full compatibility for the VIVE (as Spectator)!
Before you read: I DONT want to stream to the VIVE (so latency & resolution doesnt matter)! I want to stream the video feed to the TV.

I've got the Steam Link in order to stream the video feed (which opens on the desktop) to my TV.
This works in some cases but even there it is not a good user experience.

Setup:
I have my room scale play area setup in my living room because I have the most space there. But my PC isnt in the living room. I assume most people have the same "problem".
Wouldnt it be great to play in the living room with people watching you play on your normal (40-60") TV?

So I have bought extension cables for the VIVE (5m HDMI & USB) which is enough to get the little vive-box in the living room. But I've heard that up to 10m calbles are possible.
Steam Link is connected to my TV (/AVR).

Problems/Difficulties:
- You can't start a VR game from SteamLink! It tells you "Not on Windows" or similar.
- You also can't start a game from the VIVE.
Workaround: Minimize Big Picture on the Link and open the game from the desktop.
The game window which opens on the desktop is streamed fullscreen to the Steam Link (thumbs up!)
- Not all games work properly! Space Pirate trainer has only sound but black screen.
The lab works but the VR experience is bad (controllers lag really bad! But if you open the steam vr overlay the controllers work fine)
Workaround for The Lab: The game window on the Desktop has to be inaktive! Then the Controllers work fine again. But the problem there is, that you stream the whole desktop and not only the game window.

Please VALVE fix this! I think I wont be the only one trying to get the VIVE in the living room but without wanting to move the PC inlcuding the PC Display!
VR is also a social experience and the living room is the perfekt place for it.

How it looks if it works:
Here is a video of AudioShield (which works fine with the Link): https://onedrive.live.com/redir?resid=6927714DEC8E8DD7!375440&authkey=!AC4UAMU-LIda8Ec&ithint=video%2cmp4
