Steam Link

Steam Link

DIrect connection
I have installed Steam Link Linux app via flatpack and it works great.

Up until now I was using Steam Linux client for streaming games from my PC to laptop. However my PC is in another building and I would connect to it via internet using this Steam Linux client console command:

connect_remote <ip>:27036

This would make a direct connection from my laptop to the PC giving considerably lower latency than the default mode, which goes over a relay server.

Is direct connection possible using Steam Link Linux app?

Steam Link uses ICE to negotiate a direct connection. If you bring up the performance graph it'll show details about the connection method.
I see. For some reason ICE does not discover that there is a direct connection possible. The performance overlay shows that the connection is relayed (first screenshot in: https://imgur.com/a/cYAwvDS ) when using Steam Link.

However when starting Remote Play from the linux Steam Client after using the "connect_remote" command, the performance overlay reports a direct connection (second screenshot from: https://imgur.com/a/cYAwvDS ).

What could be a reason that ICE fails to negotiate a direct connection? Is there something that I could do to give it a hint to make a direct connection?
Do you have any tips how could I debug why ICE does not negotiate a direct connection?
Noticed the following in today's release notes:

* Enable peer to peer connection when faster than using Steam relays (this can be changed in the app Streaming Settings)

After updating Steam Link now it uses a direct connection. Awesome work!
