Steam Link

Steam Link

No audio on Quest 2 or Quest Pro through Steam Link
Quest Pro latest Horizon version 2.1
Quest 2 on V74

Windows 11 25H2
5060ti 16GB with Nvidia driver 595.79 (it isn't this driver or any recent one from the last month)

Connection goes fine, but there is absolutely no audio and weirdly the SteamVR desktop app continues saying "waiting for wireless connection" even as I am in SteamVR and interacting with the dashboard, can even launch VR games, but still no audio.

Looking at SteamVR Remote Detailed Debug the two black boxes next to the eye tracking data from the Quest Pro both say "NO SOUND".

---

And while a bit of a tangent, I have been dabbling with dual-booting Linux lately and it does not have the same issue.

I imagine I simply must reinstall windows, but seeking second opinions.

Out of curiosity, if you try connecting the Steam Link app in 2D mode, do you get audio in Big Picture or 2D games you launch that way?

That'll at least help narrow down if it's a VRLink-specific issue or a general audio capture issue.
Audio does work when I toggle it to 2D SteamLink.
And while I am not sure it means much the audio mirroring within SteamVR does send audio to the right device so it seems like the audio devices are functioning, or at least functioning for that.

Did give me an idea for something to test though, I should try stepping through the various audio formats, it was set to 32 bit 48kHz for me, but my normal sound devices are set to 16 bit 48kHz.
Okay, that's good -- at least it means it's not an overall audio capture issue. Let us know how the audio format testing goes?
Playing around with different audio formats didn't change anything so I decided to just bite the bullet and reinstall windows, which did fix the issue (at least I really hope the issue doesn't come back on the second session).

If it was some addon or something other causing it then at least I will notice this time as I intend to just use SteamLink over VD this time.
Well, I'm glad it works now!

Admittedly, I'm not thrilled we don't know *why* it didn't work; I'd prefer it if we had that data point, in case anyone else gets affected by the same issue...

I guess if it does turn up again, come add another post with whatever's changed?
This was a system that I hadn't reinstalled windows on since windows 10, so having random issues with things wasn't a rarity because of all the stuff I had installed over the years.

But if it was because of any VR related programs then I will surely know eventually.
