Audio issues With older Steam VR versions
trying to use the latest version of steam link on my meta quest 3s gives me zero audio in headset i made sure it wasn't Steam VR by using my desktop headphones connected direct to my pc and they worked just fine with it.

Could you elaborate on what you mean by "with older SteamVR versions"?

(Also, this may end up being better to throw in the SteamVR forums -- this forum mostly deals with the 2D streaming functionality, the same as what you can run on Android phones or tablets, versus the Steam VRLink functionality.)
Okay, so SteamVR Link works fine with the latest versions of both Steam Link and SteamVR. But when I use the latest Steam Link with an older branch of SteamVR, the audio breaks entirely for the headset connected via Steam Link. Regular headphones plugged into the back of my PC work fine though.

regarding me posting this on the steam vr forum i probably will i just got caught up busy doing stuff earlier before i had a chance to

Oh. Well, that's likely because there were some significant audio issues that got fixed in the more recent versions of VRLink (the part of SteamVR that handles VR streaming); using an older version is basically rolling back to before those fixes.

well now i cant hear on the only version of steam vr available that works with vrchat because for some reason with my headset the latest version of steam vr breaks all vr tracking capabilities :(

That definitely sounds like an issue you should post over on the SteamVR forums. In particular, what your host machine is (Windows 10, Windows 11, Bazzite, CachyOS, Ubuntu, etc.) and such.

No problem. I periodically swing through just to see if there's stuff I can point folks at solutions for. :)
