Gadzooks! The exact same query I'm having!

When steam link starts it detects no controller and leaves it at that.
However, on a mobile phone, steam link starts with a touch controller.

Is there a way to force the touchscreen controller to be used on a touchscreen chromebook?

Try tapping with 4 fingers to toggle touch controls?
