Steam Link

No longer recognizing Steam Controller
I'm running Steam Link on Raspberry and, up until now, it's been nearly flawless. Today however, it's not correctly recognizing my steam controller. It works just fine if I move the dongle directly to the host PC but, on the steam link software on Raspberry (3 B+), it shows the graphic of a Stadia/Nintendo Switch type controller and won't let me set it up again or re-pair it. Got a hardware Steam link I will try shortly but, any thoughts as to what might be going on?

Appears to still work with the old hardware Steam Link although I'm finding I have to use the dongle now. Although, was simple enough to re-pair directly to it. I'm also finding that mouse performance is better in my test game (Elder Scrolls Online) with the Hardware Steam Link.
Also, if it helps, I have bluetooth set up on my Raspberry and, if start the Steam controller in bluetooth ("B" + "STEAM Button"), it functions in "Lizard Mode" - which is to be expected since bluetooth game controller mode is not supported on Raspberry. So, it seems that it's just not correctly detecting my Steam Controller as a Steam Controller through the dongle anymore.

What distribution are you running?

Did you install the new udev rules? This should have been a terminal pop-up once after installing the last update.

What’s the output of id?
No popup to install udev rules. Running through OSMC. Will try to get diagnostics later today

Oh, that makes sense. OSMC needs to be updated to install the new udev rules.
Ahh.. I'd just done a apt-get update / apt-get dist-upgrade the day before so, I guess it sounds like it'll be broken until OSMC updates...
On the other thread, I followed your observation and added user "osmc" to the "input" group via:

"sudo usermod -a -G input osmc" and I'm back in business. Thanks for your help...
