Steam Link

Steam Link horrible connectivity on Apple TV
for the past half a year or more i’ve been having some issues with my steam link on my apple tv. before this time frame my apple tv would hit 100 mbps easily during the connection test with my pc and RARELY have stutters.

Now when i run the connection tests, there are certain lag spikes or jumps with the connection when it switches to a higher bitrate. For example when switching from testing 5 mbps to 10mbps there’s a large spike. Not only that, but the maximum i can ever hit (which is probably once a month) is 50 mbps with an average of about 30-40 mbps. Sometimes it gets as low as 10mbps.

I know it’s not my network connection because:

1. Running a network test on my computer works fine and I don’t have any high latency.
2. I can steam link to my phone while being on the same network as my pc just fine, reaching 100mbps with none of the “spikes”
3. My apple tv also passes a network test with flying colors using the speed test by ookla app.

Here are some things I’ve tried already:

1. Rebooting my modem and router
2. Reinstalling steam on my Pc
3. Reinstalling steam on my apple tv
4. Disabling ipv6
5. Changing my dns servers to cloud flare and google on my pc
6. Changing my dns servers to cloud flare and google on my apple tv
7. Completely resetting my apple tv to factory defaults
8. Replacing my router with a TP-Link router in change of my spectrum router
9. Rebooting both my Apple Tv and my PC

I even reached out to steam support but of course they turned me around and said it’s something with my internet connection.

If someone could confirm that they’re not the only ones having this issue or could even provide any other suggestions that would be great.

Hey Slouken, wondering if that “fix” ever got implemented? I’m having issues that sound remarkably similar to yours so I’m interested to hear if you ever had success.
I have similar problem , but with my ipad

It looks like it's fixed in tvOS 26.

For me, it got worse with the tvOS26 update. Before, connectivity wasn‘t perfect, but now the network test in the SteamLink App says I have 99% package loss and it‘s unusable.
Both the AppleTV and my computer are connected via Ethernet (plugged in the router).

Any ideas what I could try to fix this?
