I tried steamlink about one years ago with my macbook air m1 and connecting to i5-4460-rx580 system when I tried to open it my laptop would kernel panic and reboot I didn't know whats going on until yesterday that I gave another try at steamlink this time with 4460s Igpu encoding instead and it worked fine then I tried to test 580s encoder again for a sanity check but the same thing happened it crashed my laptop(I tried software encoder too just to make sure its a problem with AMF/Videotoolbox and it was fine)
so since 580 has better encoders and M1 is completely capable of decoding h264 I turned off videotoolbox on my laptop and again it worked no problem
another thing is there is no HEVC support even though M1 is capable of decoding it (or could be a license issue I don't know)
