Hey, love the AV1 support, but it broke HEVC support. I used to be able to stream HEVC from my RTX 3070 Windows PC to my M2 Macbook Pro, and with this update, I no longer can. It defaults to H264. Everything says it's enabled for HEVC, on both the client and the host (when I go into the host settings while streaming to the client). The same exact host and client machines still allows HEVC streaming when streaming via the main Steam app, instead of Steam Link.

Please fix this, as it's a significant downgrade in visual quality to go back to H264, with my poor 20Mb/s limited DOCSIS modem :(

Can you try with 1.3.12? I double checked and I'm able to stream HEVC here with no problems.
That was very weird.

I downloaded the latest Steam Link (1.3.12), updated to the latest Steam version (yay game recording) and connected: no HEVC, just H264. I tried toggling HEVC on and off in the Client Settings while connected, as well as toggling hardware encoding on/off, no dice, still H264.

I disconnected, closed Steam Link, opened Steam on my Mac, updated, connected to my PC, and HEVC worked.

I then went back to Steam Link to try one last time, and poof! HEVC works great now. And, unlike the first time I connected with 1.3.12, I now see a toggle in the Steam Remote Play settings for AV1 video, which I'm quite sure wasn't there the first time.

In short, it works now, but I had to connect/disconnect and flip some toggles first. I'm leaving this post as a record for anyone else who has the same issue. Update everything, connect, toggle everything a couple times, disconnect, quit everything, connect back again and it works.

That's very strange. The AV1 setting is always there, there's no way to remove or hide it. Maybe Steam wasn't up to date?

Anyway, I'm glad it's working for you now. :)
