See Us at Clockwork Alchemy 2018

We'll be exploring and presenting at this Bay Area gathering of Victorian chrononauts
Mar 11, 2018

Steampunks from the Bay Area and points beyond will be landing their airships at the Clockwork Alchemy convention, March 23-25, 2018 at the Hyatt Regency SFO in Burlingame, Calif. The Steampunk Explorer editor Stephen Beale will be on hand for three presentations: "Steampunk Travel Guide" (Friday, March 23, 4 p.m.-6 p.m.); "Victorian Graphic Design" (Saturday, March 24, 3 p.m.-4 p.m.); and "Steampunk Web Design" (Sunday, March 25, 10 a.m.-11 a.m.).

The travel guide will feature photos and videos from a multitude of tourist attractions that are steampunk-themed or hold special appeal for steampunks.

This is just a small part of the programming at the event. Clockwork Alchemy will have a full schedule of workshops, panel discussions, and musical performances, plus a fashion show, gaming room, teapot races, The Authors' Salon and the Alchemist Tea Parlor.

Makers of steampunk products will be selling their handcrafted wares in the Artist's Bazaar, while the curated Artist's Gallery will exhibit retro-futuristic contraptions and other creative works.

Special guests include actor/producer/director Matt Yang King; Author Guest of Honor Kirsten Weiss; Artist Guest of Honor Armand Baltazar; and Fashion Guests of Honor Paul Esquer and Ashley Montgomery. Other authors scheduled to appear include Harry Turtledove, Sumiko Saulson, AJ Sikes, BJ Sikes, Drake & McTrowell, T.E. MacArthur, Dover Whitecliff, Anthony Francis, Lillian Csernica, and Kale Lawrence.

You can get a taste of what's in store by perusing our coverage of Clockwork Alchemy 2017 and 2016.

Past Clockwork Alchemy events have been held in conjunction with FanimeCon, the gigantic anime convention that runs over Memorial Day weekend in San Jose. This time, Clockwork Alchemy is on its own, which should increase the attendance as it won't be competing with BayCon (the Bay Area's major science-fiction and fantasy convention) and the many other activities scheduled for that weekend.
