I use the Galaxy Tab A8 on stage and rehearsals for reference for songs (chords, sheet music, lyrics, etc). It can do more, but I'm not trying to push this to it's limits for what I need the screen to be on all the time for shows...although I will use it as a sleep/white noise machine for sleep on occasion (wish YT allowed for screen off but maintained audio, but that's TY for ya)...

It is what I was expecting.. a very good quality and performance for a mid ranged tablet. I would've gone with a smaller footprint tablet, but those were underpowered, and the screen was a lot worse that this. It's not trash, but I'd be paying Tab S8 money for a larger screen...I'm not looking to add weight to a mic stand mount to have it tip over, so this fit the bill.

Screen - as I mentioned, the screen is not trash. Looks rather smooth considering. Could be better in the brightness department as well, but this is because of the type of display that's used. Think older LED tv's to a 2K computer monitor. It's slight, but noticeable. I compared this to a mentioned S8. This is what you're paying for that (amongst other things). I'm okay with this compared to the price vs the S8. Like I also mentioned before, I would've gone for the smaller footprint, but trade off is a slightly worse screen for it's size, and the weight and performance (the 64bg and 128gb variant has 4G RAM, compared to the 32gb storage variant having only 3gb RAM).

Weight - compared to the S8, this wins the weight ratio to size for lighter tablet (even with a spigen lightweight case on this thing).

Performance - This is where the added RAM is helpful. My lead guitarist has this same tablet in the 32gb version, and the added ram is a super helpful when opening the PDFs for songs and lyrics while having the setlist up on the other half of the tablet for the split screen. Especially when leaving the screen timeout to never and having the brightness down enough to not be bothersome on stage to anyone else. It was a bit snappier when I compared it to a head to head test between the 2 (I adjusted the screen animations in Developer Options). It brought up several PDF's up a tad bit faster, but you can definitely make due with the 32gb, but I'd rather have that room for the PDF's and probably songs I've downloaded for reference on a 512gb microSD card and allow for the performance on the tablet not be bogged down by the tablet being full of files. I've also used this as a touchscreen mouse pad for a laptop connected to my TV as a HTPC via Bluetooth. I prefer a keyboard and trackball for this, but in a pinch, this using an app helps. No lag or problems.

Speakers - I do use this as a sleep machine when I need it, and it does help me. It's loud, bordering on annoying in a bedroom. But I've had no issues with the audio on it using as a browser, multimedia device, and using headphones (wired or wireless, via the headphone jack, Bluetooth, or dongle). Also I've adjusted some things in Dev Options for this as well...so no issues.

There's not a whole lot to say for this for what I use it for...It has worked flawlessly, so there are no regrets. This is a great little device.

From the moment I laid hands on the SAMSUNG Galaxy Tab A8 10.5” Android Tablet, I felt a wave of excitement surge through me. I had just traded up from my week-old tablet, shattered by a small accident, and immediately, the potential of the Galaxy Tab A8 seemed limitless. Here, I've curated a comprehensive review of this device, drawn from my personal experience and bolstered by user feedback to deliver a true journalistic, fact-based, and SEO-friendly perspective.

Firstly, I was smitten by the robust and seamless connectivity the Galaxy Tab A8 offered with my Samsung cellphone, including its cellular data. This feature transformed my disappointment about the lack of cellular connectivity in the tablet into a sense of satisfaction. It gave me the freedom to talk, text, browse the web and much more.

The Galaxy Tab A8 provided ample storage with its 32GB internal capacity, which I expanded by adding a 128GB micro SD card. That, coupled with the seamless sync with my wireless keyboard and mouse, made the user experience more enjoyable. A noteworthy mention is the battery life - it lasts an entire day on a single charge, a feature that earned it some brownie points.

One aspect I found quite challenging was setting up a child profile and restricting access to apps. However, after crossing that initial hurdle, the journey has been fairly smooth. My nephew, for whom I had bought the device to replace his fire tablet, enjoys gaming on it. The superior image quality, fantastic battery life, and impressive sound quality, despite the slight issue with the game field not expanding in landscape mode, make it a formidable gaming tablet.

The Galaxy Tab A8 makes transferring data from previous devices effortless. It's a great pick for showcasing product slideshows at my craft shows, proving its utility as a reliable business partner. The tablet, with its stunning 10.5" LCD screen, Snapdragon 450 processor, 3GB RAM, Dolby Atmos surround sound technology, and Kids Mode, makes it an entertainment hub for all ages.

However, despite its many positives, the Galaxy Tab A8 is not without its flaws. It's slightly on the heavier side, making it a bit cumbersome to hold for longer durations. Additionally, the device's lack of automatic brightness adjustment is a minor inconvenience.

Pros:

+ Seamless connectivity with Samsung cellphones.

+ Ample storage capacity, expandable with a micro SD card.

+ Excellent battery life.

+ Immersive gaming experience.

+ Easy data transfer from previous devices.

+ Great for business presentations.

+ Superior entertainment features with a stunning display and immersive sound.

Cons:

- Lacks cellular connectivity.

- Challenging to set up child profiles and app restrictions.

- Heavy to hold for prolonged periods.

- Does not automatically adjust screen brightness.

In conclusion, the SAMSUNG Galaxy Tab A8 10.5” Android Tablet is a high-performance device that strikes a commendable balance between work and play. It has some areas for improvement, but overall, it delivers value for its price, making it a worthy purchase for individuals or families alike. I wholeheartedly recommend it to anyone seeking a blend of performance and affordability in their next tablet.

I received this tablet a little more than a week ago. I have had many of the Amazon "k" tablet for many years and we're very happy with them. I wanted a tablet for vacation that had access to Google because the apps needed for the vacation events are not available on the Amazon software.

I have always had the Galaxy phones so it made sense to me to purchase a Galaxy tablet.

The set up was easy. The display resolution is good and the touch screen is responsive. That being said, I am a bit disappointed in how there seems to be a lag in launching apps and waking this tablet up. Once apps are open, the tablet performs nicely.

In retrospect, I should have bought the latest version of the Galaxy tablet but the price was right and for what my needs are, it will be fine.

If you're looking for a tablet for everyday use, I recommend going with the latest version instead of the A8.

If you're looking for a good gaming tablet with little to no fuss and happiness, ignore the year this thing came out. It's still top notch!

We've only had this about a month. I'll need to update this review down the line, but I wanted to get the basic review up for anyone looking like I was.

Hubby plays one game. ONE. He plays an MMO game with RTS that is persistent, meaning it continues even when he isn't logged in. Lags are literally deadly to his account. I hate reviews that say "I play games" but don't tell you if the game is an MMO or freaking Wordle/Solitaire, so I'm making it clear.

All that said, his eyesight isn't the greatest, and he needed a size-up from his phone. He decided this was what he wanted. He ADORES it!

Great picture quality, fantastic battery life, no lag to speak of that isn't from the game server itself, gorgeous sound that will terrify your other half if you forget you had it turned up and randomly start playing something at 2am while laying next to them!

It has an extra memory slot, but as he is only playing the one game for now, I haven't installed the card I bought for it, so I can't speak to that as yet.

The only complaint I have is that his game field doesn't expand when turning the tablet to landscape. It stays the same size it would be on his phone. When playing the game on the PC, the field is enlarged. On this tablet, you don't get that. Whatever Google has set up for a mobile game is what you'll see. However, it'll still be larger and easier to see because the tablet is larger than your phone, so there is that!

I hope this helps you decide!

Was holding back for the longest time on getting a portable device as I wasnt sure if I wanted a windows computer 2-in-1 or an android tablet. Finally decided after reading many reviews on this samsung tablet and I'm very happy I did. It has been great using this as a fill-in for a laptop when I bought a keyboard case to use it for work purposes and has also been great at home for streaming shows and movies. The speakers get very loud to the point its surprising but have a very nice sound to them even at the highest levels. Of course don't expect bumping bass from any laptop or tablet as bass will distort sound on any small speaker trying to play higher frequencies at the same time seems the device has a built-in speaker EQ to make sure bass doesn't distort the sound or lower the volume which is very nice compared to some cheaper tablets I've used. I like being able to auto-connect to my Samsung phones cellular service to share internet or use its hotspot making it very useful anywhere I go. Battery life has been beyond what I expected and outlasts my phone by a large margin even with equal use. Supports fast charging and I've been able to screenshare to my tv flawlessly. Only thing that has been a bit awkward is the screen is so shiny and reflective that my fingerprints and any smudges tend to stick out once the screen goes off so I'm constantly wiping it down but go figure with a screen that's about 4 times the size of my current phone stacked 2x2 so It's to be expected and only really bothers me once the screen goes dark in a room with an overhead light. Have already recommended to family.

Let me start off by saying that I have had several K***** tablets (I'm sure you know which ones I'm referring to. I'm hoping that by not naming them that this review won't be taken down.) Those tablets didn't come close to the quality and usability of this one. First of all it's much faster. It doesn't bog-down the way the K*****s do. I can get decent apps from the Google Playstore rather than the proprietary junk I had to use on the other devices. The setting feature is very well organized. A really nice feature is that since I have a Galaxy phone, I've been able to link the tablet to it. If I'm using my tablet and receive a text, I don't have to put it down and pick up my phone. I just view, and respond to, the text on my tablet. My pictures and other docs are synced. The camera is pretty good but the one on my phone is a bit better. My only complaints are that it's a bit slow to start (roughly a minute rather than the 30 seconds I was used to.) The other thing is that the frame seems to be narrower than I'm used to. I'm always turning pages when I don't intend to. But that might just be my way of holding it. The battery life could be a bit longer. But other than those few minor things, I can find no fault with it. I highly recommend this tablet; especially if you have a Galaxy phone.

After several years of owning various Amazon tablets, I wanted to try something different. I was looking to get away from the "Amazon centric" ads, promotions and so on. I also was hoping to link my tablet to my PC, so that I could do more remotely. I did a good amount of research and decided upon this Samsung tablet. I have a Samsung cell phone, so I thought I would like the added convenience of linking that as well. I was very happy with the slightly larger screen compared to my Fire 10 tab, I liked that it was thinner and felt comfortable to hold. Upon receiving it, I followed the instructions and linked my phone to it. Basically, I wound up with a larger version of my cell screen and a download of the compatible apps. Unfortunately, my carrier doesn't provide service for a tablet, so I didn't have that available. I also didn't really want my tablet to mirror my cell phone. So, I returned to factory settings and started over, backing up the info before I did the reset. I started over, but found as soon as I tried to restore the apps and info I'd backed up, it reset my phone to reflect the tablet. Also, not what I wanted. I then tried to link it to my PC, which also did not work. Now, to be honest, I'm not a techie so this may be all my fault. However, not to be discouraged (I really wanted this tablet to work for me!) I did another factory reset, this time bypassing the restoration of any previously installed info or apps. After reloading apps from the Play Store, I thought I was ready to sail along smoothly with my brand new tablet. Not so fast! The internet response was sluggish, the screen was ultra sensitive, the battery took longer (than my Fire 10) to charge and seemed to run out quicker. I found it more difficult to use my Prime membership, with more steps needed to purchase books, watch movies and just get to my account. I think the Fire tablets spoil you in the ease of accessing everything Amazon. So, I sent this tablet back. And, because my husband (who never wanted anything to do with a tablet) discovered how much nicer it was using my old tablet to play solitaire and watch videos, instead of this cell phone, I am ordering a new Fire 10 for myself! This is one person's opinion, and I'm not saying the Samsung Galaxy A8 is a bad tablet, but if you've been using Fire tablets for any length of time you may want to stick to that brand. Otherwise, I am sure this tablet is fine for people not wanting the Amazon link-ins, like the slightly larger and thinner screen, and the advantages of using the Google Play Store. Additionally, my cell phone and PC are on the older side, as technology goes, so with a newer PC, cell phone and different cell service- you may be able to have success where I failed!
