I’ve had smart watches I was issued through the military before so that’s nothing new to me. This is therefore a more I formed review. When I got this watch I was pleasantly surprised by ease of use with respect to swapping through the menus and selecting what you need. Does take some time perhaps to memorize where to go for each item but that is to be expected. I mostly wanted this for the GPS with outdoor activity and the heart rate and fitness features. (Fitbit only ever broke after 3 months, that is to say stopped working out of the blue). The compass is on point and the heart rate monitor is spot on as well. One of the coolest things about this is that it connects to an app and you can look for even better watch faces that have exactly what you want to see on them instead of just the default, that’s the kind of support GARMIN gives with this. I got the watch face that displays heart rate, so I don’t have to swap through menus or use the app to see it in real time. The fit is great and the battery life is as well. You should be aware that some features use up more battery than others, such as active GPS etc, so if you use that you can expect the battery to drain a little bit more quickly. The only adjustment I needed to make was the charging cable, I needed to pinch the lip of the plug with needle nose pliers ever so GENTLY just to adjust them the tiniest amount so it seated properly in the watch which is one of the pictures. I am very happy with this purchase!

Love this highly reliable watch that has not let me down. I wear this all day and am amused that the battery lasts for a month! Great insights and step tracking and exercise but the calorie tracking is a little unreliable in my opinion when you don't select the activity. Great value for money. Easy to set up and use. The display just works.

Im very happy with this. I prioritize battery life, utility, so this is perfect. Doesnt look as colorful as Instinct 3 or Apple Watch but both have a worse battery life, with the Apple Watch needing daily charging. This one gets me 27 days on my settings. Garmin has a solid altitude check, integration with txts and alarms from my phone, has solar charging (not that great), pedometer, heart rate graph (not accurate), and best of all, you can cram these things into 1 screen, and its customizable with other "widgets" like westher and compass. The main issue is theres do many functions I will never learn how to fully use it, but Im happy with the ones I have.

I purchased this smart watch for my partner's birthday as a way for him to monitor his fitness routine, basic health stats, and outdoor adventures. He's avoided wearables and always regarded them with heavy doubt/scrutiny, but this watch really won him over. It replaced his basic "tell-time only" watch and he has been super happy with it.

Out of the 3 months he's had it, he's only had to put it on a charger twice due to the solar charging aspect. It's also very rugged for outdoor activities and looks incredibly similar to the basic watches he used to wear. However, he can now get instant text alerts, smart camera alerts, and all his health data in record time. He sleeps with it on and sometimes showers with it as well. He's had no issues and loves that it's not a noticeable or fragile feeling wearable (he's an outdoorsy type and an engineer so he's much more into practical function than flash/style). This is a wonderfully designed, easy to use watch for those that want something different than the "fancier" wearables while still getting all the benefits. All that to say, he's now a believer. :)

I have owned this watch for 2-ish months now and love it. I can take it everywhere and love all the features it offers. I have had 0-problems or complaints. For a guy needing a rugged-simple smart watch, this is the one.

Good: extremely good battery life (20-30 saday's average which is why I chose it and a big part of the 4 stars), looks very clean (all black version), and tracks sleep, steps and HRV/Stress fairly well. Also nice to have a way to see calls and texts without constantly looking at my phone.

Bad: Very very had to use. Navigation on watch never works (it just continues to search unless your in the middle of no where), extremely hard to navigate with the with buttons and find or use advanced options (gave up trying other then basics of time, sleep, stress, HRV, and heart rate are about the only reliable aspects ). Also after about 6-9 months look between face as moldy growth can start between the small area between it (bought new band no issue). Again, App and fitness tracking for specific sports are not really viable for significant fitness tracking. Do not buy for advance sports or tracking or navigation.

Overall 4 stars because the lack of navigation, hard to use, but gets the job done. Think old Ironman watch with basic tracking and text call tracking . Only for users who don't want digital stuff, need long battery life and some basic tracking like sleep (without having to buy one some ring or other device.

Like anything it got a little getting used to but now that I'm familiar with it I love it. No monthly fee like with a smartwatch yet it does everything that one would plus some. Had to charge my smartwatch everyday, this charge lasts around 20-25 days.

i wish i could give this 10 stars, i love this watch. compass is accurate, hr is accurate and its durable. GPS works well too for the field.

Thumbs up

Perfect product. It seems quite resistant, and it has all features from garmin! Nice on the woods and trails! But the battery life is not that all. If you do long exercises every day and use all the features, it going to rest 10 to 12 days max or less. Not more than 15 days for sure.

And not enough memory to run the tools inside, so it takes too long to post it on the connect app. But not a big deal in my opinion.

The Overall is 5 stars!

First Garmin bought after swapping from Fitbit due to being forced to a Gmail account and the watch is going good needed YouTube to help with setting alarms etc but I would recommend definitely

I had the instinct 1 and then decided to reward myself by the new Garmin instinct 2 solar tactical. I like the simple, bold and robust design with the range of activity monitoring options.
