My first Garmin watch and I love it. I have been using Samsung smart watches and this is a huge upgrade. I have had the watch about a month.

The battery life is over the top. I had a Galaxy Watch 4 Classic and got about 2 days of use between charges. On my first two charges I got about 12 days of battery life per charge. This is with Always On Display off and wrist gesture on. This time of year my exercise is mainly walking/hiking. In the 12 day periods I averaged 17 miles which was about 5.7 hours of GPS time per charge. Battery life is my single most favorite part of this watch. I can't tell you how nice it is not to worry about charging the watch frequently. After a month it would be very difficult to go back to a watch which has to be charged frequently.

Other things I like about the watch include:

- For the size, this watch is very light. Significantly lighter than my Galaxy 4 Classic.

- Screen is awesome. High res and very bright. No issues in sunlight.

- Sapphire crystal.

- Plenty of memory. Even with the all the maps preloaded 15.6 gb is available.

- Maps are preloaded and include topo. Maps are very usable with high res screen.

- The amount of detailed information you can get on the watch relating to exercise is amazing.

- The phone app is great and you can get even more detailed information relating to your exercise.

- The widgets on the watch are very helpful and detailed. With the GW4 I had to go to phone to get details.

- Crazy amount of sport modes (which I will only use a fraction of).

- Heart rate monitor is very accurate.

- GPS is also very accurate and multi band really helps in hard to cover areas.

- Routing and navigation features with maps are fantastic.

There is not much I dislike about the watch besides the price. After a month of using it, the price does not bother me as much :) I do wish it had better lossless music file support. I have much of my music in FLAC format.

I recently got into running a few months ago and wanted to upgrade my apple watch series 4. I am not an athlete and do not compete in races. I used to run cross country back in high school but thats about it.

I was initially looking at the Forerunner 965 because I didn't need the extra features of the Epix. However the Epix was on sale during Prime day for a $100 cheaper than the forerunner 965 so I pulled the trigger and got it.

After a month of using this watch it is amazing. I have no complaints about it. The display is bright and the information it provides is accurate. It is very comfortable on the wrist and extremely durable. The size (47 mm) fits perfectly on my wrist and it is not heavy at all. I forget about the watch being on my wrist when I run. It has so many features that weren't on the apple watch so it took some getting used too.

Now that I switched from the apple watch to the Garmin Epix Gen 2 Sapphire I have absolutely no regrets. It is honestly the best smart watch I have ever owned. The long battery life, the daily morning reports, ability to find my phone, responsive display, accurate data monitoring, ability to look at emails/texts on the screen, stylish look, and several features I didnt even know I needed make this watch an absolute must have. I am new to Garmin so I am not sure if all of their products generate this type of user response after switching from an apple watch.

Also when I was using the apple watch I never responded to emails or text using the watch. I was mainly using it for fitness information and to glance at emails/texts as they came in. With that being said, I highly recommend anyone switch from an apple watch to a Garmin device if all they care about is fitness information/tracking and seeing texts/emails with no intention to respond using the watch itself.

The watch came on time ( the next day) and was in perfect condition upon arrival. I am now a huge Garmin fan and wont be looking back.

I've owned several Garmin watches over the last few years, starting with the  The main reason that I purchased this watch, starting with the first Instinct, and then up to the Fenix 6.  They all had impressive battery life and ruggedness that the Samsung and Iwatch don't. As my eyes age though, the screen on the other Garmin watches was difficult to read in low light, and you had to push a button to use the backlight.  The Epix fixes all that for me.  The large OLED screen is bright enough to see in any light, and with a flick of the wrist, the screen wakes up.  Though the touchscreen works well, old habits die hard and I tend to use the physical buttons more than the screen. They work exactly the same as the Fenix. The usual suite of Garmin software and apps makes it a useful ecosystem to be in.  The fitness tracking appears to be accurate, and while the sleep tracking may not be, it does seem consistent for me at least.  I don't generally use the built-in mapping, because I usually have my phone and it drains the battery quickly, but the times I have used it, the maps look great and track properly. There are tons of watch faces to help customize as well.  The bands are the same as the Fenix watches (not sure about the 8) so there are plenty of replacements on Amazon.  And they are the easiest bands to change out as well.  The battery is usually about 2 weeks at most, which is sufficient for me; it charges quickly and though it's not a month, it will do.  The one complaint I would have is the charger itself.  I dislike proprietary chargers, only in that I have to have an extra cable in my bag that already has plenty of extra cables. This is one watch that I think I'll use for quite some time. 

Very high quality device. Great battery life. Everything is customizable right down to every little window in my picture. Each little circle can be changed. It is a bigger watch but it is hard to get this much into a smaller device. Plus, for the maps and display, you want it a bit bigger.

Only complaint is the price. It is just a bit expensive but watch for sales. It is not so bad on sale. Still a great quality device. I would buy it again.

I found a second complaint. When running on a treadmill, it would sometimes stop tracking distance. If I ran 5 miles, it would record 2.6 miles. It just stops sometimes. Not always. Probably 1 of 5 times. For that, it lost a star. REVISED: USER ERROR. THERE IS A TREADMILL OPTION. I FOUND IT LATER. ADDING THE STAR BACK TO THE REVIEW.

I had purchased another Garmin watch, Instinct 2 Solar,with the same features but I had difficulty reading the display without reading glasses. That's a great watch too just not as easy on the eyes. This is much much better. I can at least see it although, still is better with my glasses. The display is gorgeous. The picture makes it appear to have depth. It doesn't appear quite as 3D as the picture shows but still is a gorgeous display. Everything you see on the face is customizable. Including choosing different colors, displays, etc... just a very cool watch.

First of all, I love the battery life. But mor importantly, I love the AMOLED screen, which is bright and clear. The Instincts are hard to read in many different lights but Epix gen 2 is readable in every light.

My only complaint is that I cannot add watch faces. I supposedly have the latest version for watch software and Garmin Express but every time I try to download watch faces I get messages that I need to install the latest software.

The watch says software is ver. 16.22. Garmin Express is 7.20.3.0. According to all the online helps I should be able to go to System, Software Updates and then select update software but there is only Auto Update. When I plug in the watch via USB cable to my computer the screen locks on charging information. I cannot even turn the watch off. Garmin Express syncs to the watch and says everything is updated. So I am not sure what is the issue, watch, software, cable, Connect IQ software. All are supposedly the latest versions.

I had a Fenix and sold it to purchase an Apple Watch Ultra which I still have and enjoy using. However, while the AWU is a great smartwatch and has far better interaction, notification and connection to other Apple devices the AWU has horrendous batter life and it's fitness tracking is not as good as Garmin. Both watches have their place and I'll keep the AWU as it does have it's place.

Regarding the Epix G2, the amoled screen is excellent, bright vibrant color, works well enough in direct sun and still, even with AOD enabled allows for multi-week battery. Compared to a day and a half on the AWU this is amazing. Workout tracking, step tracking and mapping are great and work as well as the AWU. Also I prefer that the Epix is round, watches should be round. Once the weather gets better I am looking forward to comparing the Epix G2 to my Garmin Edge 1000, if the EG2 works well enough as a cycling computer I'll likely sell the Edge as I don't need two cycling computers.

Overall I'm very happy with the watch, it does many things excellent, some things good. If there way interaction with notifications, like an Apple Watch then it would be the perfect device, alas Apple will never allow that.

My fav Garmin watch so far. I know the Epix line is gone now, as it merged with the Fenix line as of the Fenix 8. Makes sense..the Epix was just the Fenix with the amoled screen. Now the 8 has both. The latest features this lacks are the EKG sensor and the LED light built in. Or at least those were the two main ones I noticed...otherwise you sacrifice nothing with this Epix Gen2, and potentially save a little weight or thickness not having the light. Honestly I think the led light is a cool feature, and the EKG a why not one, maybe more important for arrhythmia patients. But you save some bucks if you're willing to do without those. I think the newest Fenixes will start incorporating some kind of stand alone communication potential thas been lacking in their lineup, but you decide what's important ro you. So far my epix gen 2 is rocking it... maps are great, absurd amounts of activities and trackings, decent sleep and health metrics (maybe still a bit behind some other brands there) and excellent gps. Golf features and preloaded courses are excellent also if you golf at all.

For those of you who know with the forerunner 945 can do you also know this was probably a splurge upgrade. Coming off an Apple Watch into the Garmin family. I had quickly realized that the Garman was the absolute best fit for me when it came to my work out tracking and smart, watch features that I valued. However, after being used to the quality of screens coming from my Apple Watch, there was a bit to be desired. I initially started searching for the new forerunner 965 when I decided to take a look at the epic 2. The OLED screen was a key feature, and I would not have upgraded without that. That all being said, the epic two is absolutely living up to its name. This watch really has everything you could possibly need for everything other than diving. I feel the sleep tracking is slightly better with the epic than the forerunner. I also really love the training readiness and tracking more on the epic. The screen itself is absolutely gorgeous and function exactly how you would want it to. The dual GPS capabilities have shown marked improvement on the forerunner as well without a huge battery draw. Speaking of battery, when the watch is not on, always on mode, I have seen consistently around 12 to 13 days battery life before I need to charge. I have actually left on a weeklong vacation without my charger ran multiple times using GPS about 20 to 25 miles during the week and still came home with about four days worth of battery life.

Es muy útil que pongas una fecha de carrera y te diseñe un plan de entrenamiento basado en tu condición física, nivel de VO2, sueño, recuperación, entre otros. El GPS se conecta rápido y es muy preciso, los sensores de Frecuencia cardiaca, podómetro, se conectan de inmediato en cuanto inicia una actividad. El material de la correa es suave y de buena calidad. El reloj no es pesado y es muy cómodo para correr, el día a día, dormir, ciclismo, yoga.

Got this on sale and it was the best buy i’ve ever made. love this watch. had 3 apple watches before this and will never go back. If you want to wear it while sleeping (it has a great sleep tracking function) then I suggest buying a soft 3rd party band to use at night (use the stock band for exercising). bands can be changed in seconds with the quick release so it’s super easy to change.

Well packed and arrive just in time as a father's day gift. Really love this watch. The resolution is brilliant and clear. Have been using it for the past 5 days and the battery life is amazing. Got this watch at an amazing price. Highly recommended

The bezel doesn't seem quite as rugged as the one on my outgoing Fenix 5X Sapphire, but it is holding up to a couple knocks with only 1 minor scuff. The display is clear and bright and I'm able to read most of the info on my screen of choice with my failing short range eyesight. The watch tracks running, and cycling well so far - I haven't tested it for swimming....and it doesn't have a hockey activity (I suppose Garmin assumes that nobody is playing hockey in a $1000+ watch). The sleep tracking is pretty detailed - although it sometimes records me being awake when I am not. This could be due to a very low overnight resting HR (high 30's to low 40's). I'm really looking forward to getting this watch out on the golf course in the spring and using some of the advanced golf features. All in all very please with the purchase so far.
