"From.... (Scream 4 2011) To... (Scream 2022) Gap between movies : 11 years Was it worth the wait ? : Well, to be honest, I was hardly impressed by the end-result after all. Sure, there were a couple of nice ideas but what bothered me the most was that they tried too much to be clever with all this meta stuff. And, yet, even if it didn’t really impress me, I have to admit that it was still a decent watch though, probably even the best sequel so far in this franchise."

A clever, thrilling, worthy continuation

“Even to viewers who dislike the last two Scream sequels, the notion of continuing this franchise without the legendary Wes Craven seems ill-advised and sacrilegious. After all, it was a fascinating hook to watch slasher films that gleefully and knowingly skewer the genre from the iconic director of A Nightmare on Elm Street, The Last House on the Left, The Hills Have Eyes, and more notable horror flicks. But the Scream series is in safe hands with screenwriters James Vanderbilt and Guy Busick and directors Matt Bettinelli-Olpin and Tyler Gillett, who clearly understand the franchise, delivering a clever, worthy continuation that affectionately pays tribute to Craven while offering slick, visceral thrills. 2022's Scream does not drastically alter the formula, as it adheres to the first film” read more

"Scream 5 (Tyler Gillett & Matt Bettinelli-Olpin, 2022) "

An average movie

“Even though I really enjoyed the original ‘Scream’ (I even saw it in the movie theater when it was released. Yes, I’m that old…), I didn’t care for any of the sequels. However, since this one turned out to be fairly successful when it was released and since it was available on Netflix, I thought I might as well check it out. Well, to be honest, I was hardly impressed by the end-result after all. Sure, there were a couple of nice ideas such as the fact that the victim at the beginning actually survived through the whole duration. I also liked the idea that the main character was the illegitimate child of Billy Loomis. However, the fact that Melissa Barrera and Jenna Ortega both headlined the next instalment slightly ruined these ideas because, well, it was pretty obvious that none” read more

Did I just the same movie as others?

“What a load of tripe! Even though I didn't expect much I was hoping against hope that there might be something fresh to this request. Absolutely rubbish. Regurgitated and pathetic dialogue, poor screenplay, terrible acting (seriously bad), full of cliches, with nothing new to offer. Towards the end I was like get it over with already! Courtney looks aged and tired. Both her and Neve have hardly anything to do. The young 'actors' are ridiculous and sad. Overall a huge pathetic disappointment. They should have left this alone a long time ago. But heck, if it's making money then this won't be the last time I'm sure. Much like all the Halloween and Friday 13th ones. Just goes from bad to worse.” read more
