Claude Dariot (1533-1594) was a French physician and astrologer whose Brief Introduction to the Judgement of the Stars became one of the most influential astrological textbooks of the late sixteenth century. Educated in medicine at Montpellier, he later settled in Beaune, where he practised as both physician and astrologer. First published in Latin in 1577, his work was translated into several languages and remained widely used for generations. William Lilly acknowledged Dariot as one of the principal authorities he drew upon when composing Christian Astrology, helping to secure the work’s lasting influence within the English astrological tradition.
