Anima Astrologiae: Considerations of Guido Bonatti

This text presents Henry Coley’s 1675 English translation of the 146 Considerations of Guido Bonatti, originally compiled as extracts from Bonatti’s Latin manuscript and published under the editorial direction of William Lilly as Anima Astrologiae: The Astrologer’s Guide. Long regarded as a cornerstone of traditional horary and judicial astrology, it gathers Bonatti’s principal rules of practice together with selected aphorisms of Jerome Cardan. The present edition, prepared and typeset by Deborah Houlding from W. C. Eldon Serjeant’s 1886 publication, restores Coley’s translation in a modern readable form while preserving its original content and manner of expression.
