Vettius Valens was a 2nd-century astrologer associated with Antioch, in Roman Syria (now Antakya, Turkey), active during the reigns of Antoninus Pius and Marcus Aurelius. His Anthologies, compiled between c.152 and 188 CE, form the most substantial surviving source on Hellenistic astrological practice and reveal the working methods of a practising astrologer in the Roman world.
