Taylorsville Dayzz

This past weekend was Taylorsville's annual celebration for the City, or what ever you call it. We usually try to go to the Parade so we don't have to fight our way down to the parade for the 4th. But, this year Kimberlen was able to be in the Parade with her Dance Studio. I was up at 7 to get her ready after she had already woke up once at 6 because she said she was too excited. The had told us they wanted all the girls to wear curly ponies, so I had put foam rollers in her hair the night before to make it easier. I got her ready and down to the meeting place at 8 and then back to get Maycee and Eric to go watch the parade at 9. It was fun this was Maycee's first parade (well we took her last year but does that count?) It was funny to watch her look at all the people and things as they went by. Here she is

Unfortunately I didn't get a good picture of Kimberlen due to all the Mothers and what have you that were walking with the girls. So here is what I was able to get, her taking off her head band and then as I tried to walk backwards to get a picture I cut off her head in this shot. After the parade we had to walk quite a ways to pick her up and then walk all the way back to the car. Next time we will definately watch at the end of the parade route. Kimberlen said she never wants to do that again. It was too hot and too far to walk (2 1/2 miles is far for little kids) She said she would be in a parade again if she could ride on something.

Afterwards we went home had lunch and took naps. We got the pool out and Eric and I laughed our buts off at these two little girls. Sorry no pictures of this, but it won't be the last time we get it out. We had a nice wet time.

The day was so fun then Eric made a great dinner and we were able to eat outside. We called some friends to see if they wanted to go the fireworks

later and the night was set. We piled up in cars

about 9:00 and headed over to the park. We

were able to get really close to the fireworks,

probably too close as some of the ashes came

down on top of us.

Maycee was not too thrilled with the loud BooM that some of them put off but did like seeing the colors in the sky.

So I have yet to master the art of taking a picture of myself or at least trying to get Eric to look at the camera so this is the best I got. And yes, I do have clothes on.

PoPSicLe!

So what are we doing these hot days of summer?? Eating popsicles!!! This is the first popsicle that Maycee has ever had and she just loved it. Kimberlen also says that popsicles are her favorite too, she even asked for them all winter long.

Since Maycee loves to eat and suck on ice, I figured that she would love this cold, sweet treat. And, of course she did!! They were so cute sitting on the front porch in the shade with their treats.

Maycee was really good about sharing with me and her sister. She let both of us taste her treat. Kimberlen was not as willing to share with Maycee and I. But, I made her share so that we could both taste each flavor.

I could tell that she was getting a bit chilly when her lips and face around her mouth were cold to the touch. Even with that she was not letting go or giving it up.

What a hard thing to understand, that fact that when it is gone there is no more to eat! I am sure that she would have sat there for hours eating one after another. It was fun to watch the juice drip down her chin, and the laughter between the three of us was just HilArioUs!

Race Day

Another fun day at the local Rocky Mountain Race Track. It turned out not to be that great of a day for racing but we sure had a fun time. It was 90+ degrees and breezy, prefect for a getting a sun tan and thanks to Cory for demonstrating how it is done.
Kimberlen in her Flower Hat that the clown made for her. She thought she was pretty cute, which she was, until she stood too close to the fence and it popped. Bummer!!

Maycee was quite content in the shade of her stroller sucking on ice. Her she has her thumb up through the center of it. And we used the silicone earplugs for both girls and Maycee left them alone all night and was not bothered be the noisy cars. Hurray!! She made it through her first night of racing. Last time I brought her she started bawling and Uncle Cory took her home for the rest of the night.

Once again here is Kimberlen being her goofy self. We signed her up for Rocky's Kid Club and she got a free T-Shirt and was able to ride in the Pace Car. She was so excited, she stood in line half the night waiting for her turn. I didn't get a picture of her on the track but as they drove through the Pits the driver stopped in front of Eric's trailer so she could say "HI DAD" and he was able to see her in the car. Pretty exciting for a 6 year old. Now Maycee and I are the only ones that have not been around the track in our family.

Here is a In Motion picture of Eric racing. It looks pretty good and he just passed the yellow car behind him. Yeah! Unfortunately one of the cars in front of him broke an oil gasket and laid down a bunch of oil as they came around the corner and he spun out and was hit a couple of times, but not too much damage this time. He ended up finishing 8th out of 13 cars, so that's pretty good considering the wreck! Way to go.

And this is probably the most exciting moment of the night for Kimberlen. James, Eric's teammate, let her get in his car and "drive it" as they loaded it into the trailer. So all in all we had a pretty event full night. We had a bunch of family and friends that helped support him show up and this is what racing is all about!!

Fathers Day Part II

On Sunday we broke out the boat and had some fun in the sun! I bought Eric and his father an annual day pass to all the State Parks for fathers day. It turned out that Eric's father was unable to come due to being sick but he didn't want us to stay home because of him so we stopped and pick up Eric's brother Cory and the food his mom had prepared and headed off to the water. We didn't decide were to go until we were on road and Eric said East Canyon and I said that's too cold lets go to Echo. Big mistake, and totally my fault because I think I know it all!!!. The further we went the colder it got and it turned out Echo is not a State Park but is Privately owned. So our pass did not work and we had to pay, but what a fun day. The sun was shinning and the breeze was mild. The water did feel as though it should have ice cubes floating in it but that didn't stop Kimberlen. She jumped in about 4 or 5 different times even though it was chilly. Maycee also took her turn in the water but only to about her waist then she wanted out. Here are some fun Pictures of our day.

Fathers Day Part I

First for Fathers Day we went to my moms house for a BBQ with my family. We had a great time and the weather was beautiful, almost hot. We played silly toss games, ate a ton of good food and dessert and threw in a little bit of wrestling. (Mom and Desiree'). Here are a few shots of the fun time.

Hair Cut

So since some of you have noticed from my past post I have cut my hair. I actually don't call it a cut but rather a chop. Yes, I did it. My sister chopped it all off. It has been quite a while since I have had short hair and I like it. It has been nice so far, but I do miss the pony tails! It's a bit flatter here than I usually wear it, but you get the idea - it's SHORT!! I am going a little shorter and a little blonder in a couple of days so I will switch the photos and update this post. No need for a whole new one.

Ballarina

Last night Kimberlen brought her dance pictures home. Ya know how things always better in person? Well that is exactly what I thought of these. I was sure that her eyes were always open and she was looking right at the camera, well I was wrong. Now you can really see what a goofball she really is! I love her to death, the little stinker!

LagOOn!!

Kimberlen got to hang out with Gramma on Saturday at Lagoon. It was my mom's work day there and so she took Kimberlen instead of anyone else. When I met her with Kimberlen, Maycee was not sure why she didn't get to get out of the car and go and my mom told her that next year when she was bigger she would take her too. It was pretty cute.

Kimberlen only got scared on one ride and that was the Tidal Wave. My mom thinks it was when she keep coming up off her seat. But she did like the Flying Aces, which surprises me. I think they are scarier.

They had a fun day and then Kimberlen got to stay the night while Eric and I were out at the races. Here is a cute picture of my mom that Kimberlen took. I think she enjoys acting like a kid sometimes. But don't we all!!

RAGING WATERS DANCE RECITAL

Kimberlen was able to perform with her dance studio at Raging Waters last weekend. It is always so funny to watch these little girls doing there own thing during the routine. Overall they did pretty good. They were little maids and danced to the song from Beauty and the Beast "Be our Guest".
Of course the girls could not wait to get in the water so as soon as Kimberlens dance was over she was practically ripping her costume off. And when I put Maycee's suit on she took off for the water like she knew what she was doing. I didn't know how Maycee would react to the water, as this was her first time at a pool this year and last year she was too small, but she loved it. Neither of them wanted to get out. We had a good day resulting in a sunburn for Eric and I and pink shoulders for the girls. Man it is hard to keep enough sunscreen on them! Here are the pictures, I had to get from my moms camera and then it turns out she is not in any of the pictures. Love ya Mom!

Newest Work of Art

Yesterday was my boss's 40th birthday so of course I volunteered to make the cake. I had one of the girls from work Tahna help me with the cake. We decided to make it the shape of a coffin. The cake is Carrot and I had a great recipe for that and it is such a dense cake that it worked really well. The top of the coffin is just a piece of cardboard that we cut out to use as our stencil and then I covered it in the fondant. It was hard to get it to be black even with the black food coloring, but it turned out pretty good. I placed it on a cookie sheet and then spread the crushed oreos around to look like dirt. The worms are also made out of the fondant and I put some along the side under the cookies so that we could stick the candles in it. I used skewers to prop the lid open a little so that is what you can see inside. I wrote on the top with some extra cream cheese frosting I made and found I need some more practice writing with frosting. But overall it was a hit and turn out just about like I wanted it too!! I am glad the fondant worked this time.

Messy Face!

So I let Maycee feed herself for the first time. Well, kinda, I have let her have finger foods and such by herself but this was the first real meal. I don't know what it is about kids and tomato based foods but she sure loves them. This was what we call "Goolosh". I had given her a spork to use but not real sure she got too much on it. It I would help her put the food on then she had no problems getting it in her mouth.

She ate two bowls of this stuff and was having a great time with it. When I got her out of her chair there was a fair share in the seat and on her lap. She also got a bit on the floor. Needless to say I used a bunch of Spray N Wash and had to mop the floor. I am sure she thought she was a big girl and doing a great job.
