hiatus

Well, I took a long time off of this for no good reason....it's time for me to start again. This is especially easy today as I cannot speak, due to the worst sore throat of my life. I even had to call in sick to work today. We celebrated James' 5th birthday yesterday. We cannot believe our baby is 5---kindergarten registration next month! He loves sports, especially hockey and soccer, downhill skiing, scootering, and soon to learn to skateboard (the theme of his gifts this Christmas and birthday). He can read prety well now. He can sound anything out, and now is starting to comprehend. He is still kind hearted, a total boy, and funny.

Anna is a first grader and excelling in school. She still loves acro, especially her friends, but also learning lots of new tricks. I really can't believe how fast she has come along with her back tuck, now doing a 3 tuck in her next show! She can downhill ski quite well, and always takes the fast line. She got Laney, an American Girl doll for Christmas this year, and she just adores her. She is always changing her outfits for the weather and to match her. She is a great writer, loves to make story books including illustrations, likes to journal. She has always been a feisty girl, but has come out of her shell so much now, she is much less shy, she engages with others, and the tantrums are few and far between. They are still pretty dramatic when they happen though!

A and J are the best of friends. They play so well together and really enjoy one another. We can't wait for Big Sky next week!

James turns 2.

James is 2. He celebrated his "buhhday" with a 'Cars' theme. He very much knew it was HIS birthday, and "I'm gonna be 2," or "I'M 2!" He knew that it was his special day, and that all the presents were for him. When we all sang happy birthday to him, he looked a bit scared...and progressivly more scared until he started to cry. I don't think he quite knew why everyone was looking at him. Anna pretty much blew out his candles. We lit them again to give him a chance, which he kind of did. He was sooooo excited to open his presents, especially the first one. His eyes said it all. He would point to everything and say, "Is that mine?" He got lots of toys, mostly cars and trucks and tools. He is adorable with his tool belt, using his power drill. When he opened the gift from Kristina/Alek, he started digging thru the box, looking for the toys, just kind of holding the clothes, not looking at them, like "where's the real present? it's gotta be here somewhere!" It was a great party. He played and played and played, and finally around 10pm, exhausted, told Dave it was time to cuddle, and went right to bed. At daycare, he brought yogurt and Cars hats and napkins. He doesn't quite get it that it can also be Emma's, Papa's, Lola's, Uncle Michael's, and Dave's birthday too!

We got him a big wheel. It looks like he is sitting on a Harley. His legs don't even come close to the pedals. He says "I need boots."
