Top trumps

Michael and Emma both really enjoy playing top trumps at the moment. Michael got a pack of barman/superman cards a while ago, but after showing them how to play they love it. Emma is obsessed with the joker, and seems to like the baddies more than the goodies.

Baby Sophie

Auntie Maggie and Uncle Neil had a baby girl a couple of weeks ago. Michael and Emma are both very excited to be cousins, and went up to visit her last weekend.

Sarah and I are both excited to be an uncle and auntie. We've already been looking up irresponsibly loud toys for Sophie on the internet.

I haven't blogged for a few weeks. Life's been trundling along. Michael and Emma seem to be getting progressively busier. Emma has nursery as well as gymnastics, dancing and rhyme time at the library. Michael has school with loads of after school clubs. He's also learning the piano now and going to football once a week.

Sarah had the great idea of getting Michael and Emma to help around the house by motivating them with a vase they could put a lego brick in to every time they helped or did something good. It filled up quite quickly, and we took them to see cloudy with a chance of meatballs 2 as a reward. We needed two bags to sneak in all the food sarah thought we needed.

Guising

We went out guising on Thursday in our street. Joseph McNeish and his mum, Anna came with us. 

Luckily, this year I was able to take part. Two years ago we managed to lock ourselves out of our house, and last year I was not well enough to head out. 

We had a great time. It's a perfect combination of three of Emma's favourite things - dressing up, putting things in bags and getting sweeties!

Here's a quick sample of the jokes. I'm not quite sure where the humour lies - 

Emma : Why do bees go into their hives? Because the storm blew them in there

Michael : What happens if a ghost gets lost in the fog? It's a mist-ery.

Joseph : What's orange and shaped like a carrot? A Parrot.
