3 Months

I cannot believe that Kenna will be 3 months old in two more days. Today starts her 4th week at day care, and it is going great! I love the fact that she can be monitored online all day long, it makes me feel so much more comfortable leaving her in the mornings. I still try and arrive at different times to pick her up, just to double check and make sure she is taken care of! Can't figure out how they all know my name already..even the director! haha
Kenna loves her bath time, I think she would sit in her bath until she turned into a raisin if we would let her! Another thing she likes is her sleep...but she really only likes to sleep in her bed at her house. I was told by my mom that I was the same way..guess she gets that honest! She has been sleeping through the night for several weeks now!!! I am posting a few recent pictures below!

2 Months Already!

I cannot believe that Kenna turned 2 months old yesterday (2/11/09). It seems as if time is just flying by, and one reason is that she keeps me very busy!
Today was her 2 month checkup with Dr. Prihoda, and she is growing like a weed! Kenna is now 10 lbs 4 oz and 22 inches long. It was a bitter sweet day, I love to hear how much she has grown...but she also had to receive her 2 month vaccinations. She received a total of 4 vaccinations, 3 shots in her thigh and 1 vaccination was administered orally. She was a big girl...with a VERY loud scream! Kris kept telling me to hold her hand..hold her hand..but I couldn't I was a ball of nerves..so Kris held her hand! It was too sweet!
We then headed off for a surprise day care visit to meet Kenna's day care teachers, and to turn in all the 9 million forms that had to be completed for her to attend. On a side note..I did not get the warm and fuzzy about the day care we have had a spot reserved at since August...so on Monday February 2nd I went on a mission..and I found a new day care in Baytown( it is on my way to work) and I really think it is going to work out much better! This day care even has internet video monitoring of the infant room! I was SOLD!
Jill and Hailey (Kenna's Teachers) were very nice and it was reassuring that our surprise visit was welcomed! The room/changing area/feeding area were very clean and there were children sleeping in their cribs, a few sleeping in the bouncy seats, and a few playing on the carpeted area in the middle of the room. Kenna refuses to sleep on her back in the crib, so she will be one of the bouncy seat sleepers! Kenna is going to be the youngest and the smallest in the 6 weeks to 8 month old infant room, but I am sure she will be able to hold her own! I might add she does have her mother's temper!! =) Glad I was able to give her something...since she looks just like her daddy!

Six Weeks & Growing

I know it has been six weeks since the last post sorry for the overdue update, but taking care of a newborn is a full time job! Kenna and I have finally established a routine, so I hope to update the blog more often.
At Kenna's two week doctor visit (12/30/08), she had grown to 20 1/2 inches long and weighed 8lbs 7oz. Doctor Prihoda gave Kenna a good report, and her next doctor's appointment is on February 12th, this will be her 2 month visit where she will receive her first round of shots. Not looking forward to those =(
Yesterday, January 22nd Kenna turned six weeks old! I went for my six week checkup yesterday, and I have been released from my doctor's care! I will be returning to work on Monday February 16th, and it is going to be a really tough day for both of us. Please keep us in your prayers! Kenna will be attending a local daycare here in Mont Belvieu.

Baby Kenna Has Finally Arrived!

After 41 weeks, 13 hours of labor on a snowy night in Houston, Kenna has arrived.
Her official stats are:
Birthday: December 11, 2008
Time: 03:51 a.m.
Weight: 7 Lb, 12 Oz
Length: 20 Inches

I am sorry this post is short, but Kasey and Kenna are asleep and I am headed that way after the pictures are posted.

Labor Induction Scheduled

So I went to the doctor AGAIN this morning....and I am still NOT dilating. After a lengthy discussion with Dr. Beckner here is what I know...
Kenna has dropped, but not enough to put the needed pressure on my cervix to cause dilation. This is the reason nothing is happening.. So here is the plan of action that Dr. Beckner put in place this morning...
If my water hasn't broke and/or my contractions aren't 5 minutes apart by Wednesday December 10th at 9 PM, then I will be admitted to Kingwood Medical Center. At this time they will give me a Prostaglandin/Misprostal (gel type medicine used to make my cervix dilate). I will then be monitored through the night...If nothing changes then I will receive a second dose of the Prostaglandin/Misprostal later during the night. At this point if I have not dilated and labor hasn't started, then Dr. Beckner will be in Thursday morning to give me an exam and then determine if Pitocin (IV medicine used to cause contractions) will be beneficial. He explained to me that there is a 50% chance all the above will not work, but he will do whatever is best for both myself and Kenna. If the above doesn't work, then Dr. Beckner will only be left with 1 option and that is a C section.
I am so thankful that Kris and I attended a childbirth class, because all of this was discussed in detail and makes total sense to me! I was able to hold a detailed conversation with Dr. Beckner and totally understand all the medical terms he used!
Please keep all of us in your prayers during the next few weeks as we start this new journey together with Kenna in our arms!

Little Miss Stubborn!

Today is the day before my due date. I had a doctors appointment this morning, and I just knew he would say she is ready..but he didn't.. Kenna has dropped and is head first (thanks for that), but I still have not started to dilate. My doctor really doesn't want to induce at this point, so we are going to play the waiting game. There are eight doctors in the office I visit, and my doctor just happens to be on call this weekend! BLESSING!

So here is the plan...I have a doctors appointment scheduled for Monday the 8th...If Little Miss Stubborn hasn't arrived by Monday, then it is looking as if he will induce on Tuesday the 9th or Wednesday the 10th. I personally do not want to be induced...from everything I have been told and I have read..it just makes labor pains worse. So keep us in your prayers!!

I do have some really exciting news!! Kenna's room is almost 100% complete!! Kris has been working on it non stop to make sure it is ready for her arrival! Thanks for being a great hubby and daddy! Also thanks to my dad for helping install the flooring this past weekend, it looks great!! =) I have posted a few pictures below, let me know what you think!!

Full Term!

Yes, that is correct! It is official, I am 37 weeks and considered full term! I am very anxious and nervous all at the same time. It has been a busy few weeks, still working full time, taking online classes for my teaching certification, and trying to make sure we have all the baby items needed for the first few weeks of Kenna's life! As of my appointment last week Kenna is still head first. My next appointment is tomorrow 11/13, and hopefully everything will still be completely normal as it has been my whole pregnancy. I am feeling bigger by the day, and more hungry by the minute. Isn't a good combination..but hopefully it won't last too much longer!
Kris and I attended the breastfeeding class last week, and it was very informative. I feel better about my choice, and just hope Kenna corporates! This Saturday 11/15 is the all day childbirthing class, and I am actually excited! I want to know as much as possible before I go into labor!
*Construction/Repair Update*
Finally some progress! This Friday 11/14 the drywall for the ceiling and walls will be installed in Kenna's room. They will then come back the following week to apply the texture. The flooring has also been ordered, but will not be in for another 7 to 12 days.. Please say a prayer or two as my Dad and Kris are going to try their handyman skills and install the wood flooring. Maybe we will have pictures of the completed room before Thanksgiving!
