Mitch Is Home

Our Son Mitchell went away the 1st of June to the Cascades Drum and Bugle Corps in Yakima Washington. Life certainly wasn't the same here without him. But we could keep in constant contact with our cell phones. It almost seemed that he wasn't really that far away, when in reality he was in Buffalo NY or Louisiana.

At the beginning of July they packed up in Tour Buses and started their season. they traveled to 25 states and rode that bus 22,000 miles. HELLO! He is a much tougher person than I am.

He returned home to Utah on the 10th of August. We were all glad to see him and spend some time together. Because they usually stayed in Gymnasium's in High Schools, he hadn't taken a shower alone for months. He spent about an hour in his newly remodeled bathroom downstairs. We kinda laughed about that. But despite drumming for hours a day, he came home and drummed that very afternoon in his room. Oh Well, I guess that will never change. I'm not sure how he fits in around here any more. He is so brown from the sun and we are all white people.

Thanks to all of you who have asked about him and thought about him while he was gone.

Mitchell in the Seattle Cascades

Mitchell left home the beginning of June to practice, then the first of July the group started touring the country. On the 6th, 7th, and 8th of August they will compete in Indianapolis Indiana in the DCI World Championships. Look for it on ESPN.

Mitch make the Cascades Drum and Bugle Corps

Mitch is now officially a member of the Cascades Drum and Bugle Corps out of Yakima Washington. He and two of his friends from the U of U line drove up there for their first practice over the weekend and he came home tired but excited. If there isn't any other problems he should be traveling there for practices and then stay with the group through the summer touring and practicing to compete. His group will be attending the Weber State Corps Encorps this summer so if your around, try to make it up there.

Cassidy and Friends 80's Dance

Cassidy and her friends Chloe (right) and Marria (left) attended a dance at school that included an '80's theme. Since I am and '80's expert, I helped them with their hair and makeup. But they went to the thrift store and found their own outfits. Cass told me later that they were the best dressed one's there. They had a fun night.

The Family Update

There has been a lot of things going on so there hasn't been time to update our blog. Sorry! So, for those that may be interested Here You Go.

In February Shayne had a Birthday. He is now 47yrs young. I don't know if I was supposed to tell you that. :( But I did tell you that :) hehehehe. As a family we went out to dinner and spent some time together.

In March Wendy had her birthday and since I write this Blog you will not be in on the information as to how old I am.:) Again we went out to dinner as a family. Later in the month Rick, Paul, Jim and Becky drove through on the way to see Rick'l Brother Brad that was ill and in the hospital. Thank Goodness Brad is now doing better. But on the way home they stopped in for breakfast at Andy's so we could see them.

















Noah and Mom had a special Mother and Son night sponsered by his school. We went to the Ice sheet in Ogden to Ice skate. We had such a great time and Wendy didn't even fall down once. Yipee! The Ice sheet is where in 2002 they held the Curling Competition for the Olypmics. It is a really nice facility. Noah's best friend Mitchell Evans was there too, so we got a couple of shots of them together. A fun time was had by all.







April 5th, Shayne and I went to Las Vegas to see the National Drag Races. We have tried to go once a year for the past few years. It is a really fun day. And my Funny Car choice for this year won! Ron Capps all the way! We spent the night in St. George on Saturday night and had planned to stay Sunday night as well. But I was called to appear for Jury Duty here in Ogden Monday morning at 8:45am. So as soon as the races were over, about 6:30pm, we took off for home. Man, am I glad Shayne likes to drive. I don't think we would have made it if I had had to drive.
