Little Duck Syndrome

Today I have a bad case of little duck syndrome. This is the term we've coined for what happens when you are so tired of singing that you forget how to count backwards from 5. Which means you really mess up the 5 little duck song, or 5 little monkeys jumping on the bed. Kennady loves both of these songs and sometimes they are the only things that will stop her screaming. She knows what she wants and she knows how to get it. Luckily as soon as I find an mp3 of both of these songs, all my troubles will be over. You see, Kennady has her very own baby proof mp3 player, and 2 speaker devices that light up. She has even learned how to change songs on one of them. Kendra got them for her for Christmas, but up until today she has not been interested. Today she listened to songs while I took a shower, and I didn't even have to shout/sing them so she could hear them over the shower. And when she got tired of a song, she just hit the next button. Or maybe she just hit the ext button because it lights up so pretty. Who cares, she was entertained and I got a shower and changed out of my pjs. Now if I can only find her favorite songs and avoid having to record myself singing. Yikes! Oh, and this is the other one, which she doesn't play with, because first we have to disable the stupid jumping fish that make a terrible annoying loud noise that drowns out the music.

Adventures in Babysitting

This past week we've been house sitting/babysitting for the Allphins, a family in our ward. So we've temporarily inherited 5 kids. They are great kids and pretty much take care of themselves. We're more of the mediators. Kennady's made some new friends and loves the little boys. I think Kennady needs some older brothers and sisters. Too bad it doesn't work that way.Ben enjoyed having replacement little brothers around. I think he misses Adam and Abe though!

Kennady's been eating sweet potatoes and she loves them. She is growing like crazy right now. I bet that she's gained a pound in the last week and a half. She loves to eat!

Yesterday Ben and I got the chance to go up to St. Louis and go to the temple. It was wonderful. We haven't been since the week before Kennady was born, and it was great to get to go. It was a little different to have to drive 4 hours to get there. We didn't even have to drive that far in Alaska! We left Kennady with Mica all day (thank you!) and I was a good mommy and only called to check on her once. She was a good baby and she seemed to have a good time. Mica's only complaint was that she eats so much (she is still eating about every hour and a half).

The week has been great, but we're ready for some sleep now. No more kids to get to seminary! Ok, well at least I might get a little more sleep, Ben has to work at 4 am! Yuck.

Getting bigger

She finally fits into the outfit we bought her. I don't know why she has such a weird look on her face. I think she was annoyed that I put a hat on her, they aren't her favorite.

Kennady also likes to eat pizza crust. She thinks it's awesome.

Um, Do I Blog Anymore?

Mmm, well, sometimes. First, to answer some questions. MumMums are these fantastic rice sticks for babies that my cousin Mica told me about. Kennady loves them. The only problem is they make a huge mess out of her and anything she touches. But since they entertain her so well, I strip her down, let her make a giant sticky mess for a hal hour or so and then it's bath time! And Jeff is my cousin, not a cyber stalker/secret admirer.

Now for the real blogging. This will be done in reverse chronological order. Yesterday Dustin got ordained as an Elder. Everyone came over for lunch and I got a nap. We spent lots of time with the family, because my grandma and grandpa Ellis came up from Texas. Saturday Ben and I drove to Springfield. I had a girl's camp meeting in the morning- I'm the assistant ward camp director. Mica is the camp director, so I think we are going to have a lot of fun. Although I don't know what I am going to do about being away from my baby for 4 days! Then we went out to lunch at Zio's, one of my favorite Italian restaraunts. And then we dropped Kennady off at my Grandma's house and went to the movies! The movie was no good, but we enjoyed our time together, without a baby. We then drove home, made cheesecake and waited for my grandparents and Dustin to get home. We ate delicious homemade lasagna, thanks Mom! And then Dustin opened his mission call. My little brother is going to Samara, Russia for 2 years and he's leaving July 15!

Friday night we went to our friend's house and played games with the adults. Well, I did, Ben seemed to enjoy playing with the little boys more. I think he misses his little brothers! Ben got a hair cut. Thursday was my last night of belly dancing class. Ben came and brought Kennady and helped watch Jovie (Mica's little girl). We all had a fun time dancing- especially Kennady. I'm sad that it's over! The rest of the week, or the first, was pretty uneventful. There, now you are caught up.

Let Them Eat MumMums (No Cake Yet)

Kennady likes to eat MumMums. And then she has to take a bath because she is all sticky. She started eating rice cereal last week too. She loves it! The only problem is that she cannot eat it fast enough and it makes her really mad.



She is starting to actually enjoy tummy time. She also thinks it's great/really funny to be mostly naked. I am not brave enough to let her roll around without a diaper on, even though she would probably love it.
