Lighthouse in the Night

Last Tuesday afternoon, the Young Men and Young Women from the ward took the opportunity to attend the Payson Temple open house.  We truly enjoyed seeing the inside of this wonderful temple that we have watched being built over the past 4 years or so.  I am hoping that I can take my class there soon to do some baptismal work - we have gone as a group to the Manti Temple, but I think it would very special to go here after they have gone through the temple earlier.  We went to a park in town for a picnic dinner afterwards.  The next temple open house will be the Provo Tabernacle that I hope we plan to go through too.

YM/YW Auction and Dinner

The Young Men and Young Women in our ward are having a turkey dinner and auction to raise funds to camps this summer.

This is just a start of the different items that are being auctioned.  Some of the Young Women will be doing baked goods.  There are several more items forthcoming!  I thinks things will go well again this year.  Thanks to all the different ward members and locate businesses for helping us!

I looked at the window and saw this little cottontail hopping around outside.
Hoping the cats were inside - they had caught two cottontails earlier in the year!

New Hair Cut!

I had my hair cut last September when we visited Katrina & Zane.  Katrina and I took Cassie and Sara to get their hair cut and Grandma got her's done too.  So it has been growing out again and it was time to get something new done.
Jolene Ballentyne - our Young Women's Presidency is now working at Sheer Style.  She has been a stylist for over 20 years and the last 10 years she has taught at Paul Mitchell School up north.  So I asked her Tuesday night at our activity if she would cut it and what a wonderful cut she did.
She dry cut it first and got it wet and touched up the style even more.  It feels so much lighter and I can do several styles with it depending on what I am going to do!  Love it!!

Young Women's Service Scavenger Hunt

Tuesday night the Young Women in the Ward did a Scavenger Service Project.  We had a great turn out of young women and with four different car loads we were able to go to at least 8 different homes.  One group went to a single lady's (Kathy Dinkel) home while she was still at work and stacked firewood on her porch.  (The next day she texted Gary thinking it was the Young Men who "pixie dusted" her porch.  Gary told her not the Young Men but the Young Women).  She was greatly appreciative of the service.  Another car load went to the Evan's home and they have triplet toddlers girls.  She was surprised and they helped her fold laundry, do dishes, vacuum a floor and help get the girls into bed.  She was able to relax that night after getting the girls to bed.  Another car load helped three other homes and the fourth car load got to visit 3 more homes, each helping do little chores around the homes.
Then we all met back at the Church to tell of our services and had a treat. We all had a wonderful learning experience of service and giving of ourselves to others.

In late November I was called to be the second counselor in our Young Women's.  My advisor
was pregnant and my girls wanted to learn to tie a quilt and so we made a baby quilt for Sister Hathaway and then we made these little sock snowman.  Sister Hathaway had her baby girl towards the end of January.

 Thanksgiving Dinner 2014  I gave Gary a new game table that can be flipped over to use as a dining table.
So we broke it in for Thanksgiving.  It was his anniversary, birthday, Christmas, New Year's and Valentine's present!!

 After dinner, we went out to cut down our Christmas trees.  Gared and Holly pulled their tree back to the cabin, Gary and I put ours in the Rhino.

 Gary got us tickets to do the Provo River Christmas Cruise.  West of Provo along the Provo River you walk a pathway to the river and load unto a flat bottom boat that holds about 40 people.  The boat master pulls on a rope above you and then it floats along the river.  The river banks are decorated up with Christmas lights and decorations with strings of lights crossing the river.  Christmas music is playing.  It took about 30 minutes and Santa was floating the river too looking for his reindeer.

 We invited Gared, Holly, Henry and Sean, Karey, Acticus and Sawyer Romney to join us!!  It was lots of fun and a nice way to start the Christmas season!!  The little boys had to wear life vest and they were not too happy to have them add, but once they saw the lights and decorations, they forgot all about their vest.
