JOURDAN DUNN GAVE BIRTH

The beatiful model welcomes her first child.

UK - British model Jourdan Dunn gave birth to a baby boy on Tuesday (Dec. 8). The 19-year-old model and her boyfriend of five years haven’t decided on a name for their baby boy, who weighed just over seven pounds. "Jourdan is really well and super happy," a spokesperson for her agency, Storm, said. "She is due to get home from the hospital with her little boy today." While pregnant with her child, work didn’t stop for the model. In October Dunn, who was seven months pregnant at the time, walked the Spring 2010 Jean Paul Gaultier show (photo left). Now industry rumors suggest that her baby boy could make his modeling debut. Fashion brands have approached Dunn to be photographed with him. Dunn made her runway debut in 2007, walking for Marc Jacobs, Ralph Lauren and Salvatore Ferragamo. She has appeared on the covers of British Vogue, French Vogue, French Elle and i-D. For their last issue of the decade the magazine takes on Twitter.


Italy - Vogue Italia is known for their creativeness but are you feeling the December 2009 issue, Blaynistas? The cover features models Lara Stone, Natalia Vodianova, Christy Turlington, Gisele Bundchen and Kasia Struss and includes more models in the accompanying editorial. The issue is “a tongue in cheek send up of Twitter, social media and the perils of online exposure.” While fashion photographer Steven Meisel came up with the Twitter concept, word is that all the models photographed themselves for the magazine. Future trending topic?

worldwide - glad to see benetton is putting some oomph into it. me? i'm no retail maven. numbers confuse me. but i just have this feeling that benetton has fallen off of late. no one's really been buzzing about them. but their fall ad's are certainly getting some attention. they look like classic benetton: bright, beautiful and the epitome of diverse color (in clothes and skin). now do my eyes deceive me or is that model-of-the-moment jourdan dunn at the end of this pic? i'm not mad at these young girls raking in the coins! oh to be six inches taller....

LILY COLE IN FRENCH PLAYBOY! DID YOU KNOW THERE WAS A FRENCH PLAYBOY!?

paris ohmygah! am i a peasant!? i had no idea that playboy came in international editions!? let alone a french one! i am gagging. so any way, british model lily cole is rumoured to be on the november cover of the french edition of playboy magazine. according to fashionista.com (which posted these pics on their site) she will be posing totally nude, as fellow models lou dillion and lydia hearst did for a previous issue of the magazine. wowza.

CHANEL IMAN KNOWS VICTORIA'S SECRET....

worldwide - so am i the only one who didn't know this? model chanel iman is now a victoria's secret pink model. and according to my fave site, www.fashionista.com, so is another african-amerian model, sabina. that's a really good look for all involved. victoria's secret continues to solidify it's place and penchant for top notch models and these two girls get to enjoy what is no doubt a profitable contract. oh....to be taller and thinner...but then who would blog for you?

YOU KNOW YOU ARE A DIE-HARD FASHIONISTA WHEN......MY THOUGHTS ON THE VOGUE ITALIA BLACK ISSUE

new york - so to finish my sentence, you know you are a die-hard fashionista when you spend your last - and i mean LAST - coins on two issues of a magazine. i don't know about you, but the stand i went to charged $16 per issue, and i found it critical to buy two (one to thumb through and one for my personal archives) so i spent $32 bucks on two magazines. not a lot of money, but when you don't have a lot of money.....anyway, i digress. so i finally got my hands on the vogue italia all black issue and after hopping up and down with glee and explaining to the two people online how important the issue is (to very dry responses and blank stares) i painstakingly examined the issue. what do i think.....?

what i loved

• just the fact that there is an all black issue. there is beauty in diversity for sure, but as blacks ( like many other minorities) are visually marginalized in fashion magazines, it was a feast for the eyes and mind to see model after model and story after story specifically on people of color.


• the broad range covered of topics in the magazine. as you will see - or already know - vogue italia didn't necessarily y limit themselves to black models, they talked about magazines like essence, actors like angela bassett and legends like grace jones. the subject matter was very well rounded


• the luxurious photo spreads. primarily i am talking about naomi campbell and tocarra as they were the only two to have real, full on, multiple pages, of spreads in the magazine. although there was a lot of t*ts and, a*s, it was done as tastefully as humanly possible. i truly loved the photos.


• the multiple covers. oh i loved it! it took me a second to notice that there are actually four cover girls. i thought it was an ingenious move and actually compels you to want to buy more than one. i scooped up the jourdan dunn and liya kebede ones.

what i didn't

• i don't speak italian (clearly, not vogue italia's fault or issue). the mag was definitely visually pleasing, but i felt like i missed a lot because i didn't necessarily understand the context of some of the spreads and articles.


• disproportionate pages. okay, as much as i love and live for tocarra, did anyone else find it strange that she got so many pages? in fact she was one of only two models of color who had a real photo spread. legends like iman, alek and tyra (above) really had just a few pages. it just seemed odd and lopsided. anyone else concur?

TOCARRA IS IN VOGUE ITALIA'S ALL BLACK ISSUE? PLEASE BELIEVE IT

italy - mean....woah....what were you thinking after you read that title? because after my friend told me via email, i gagged. toccara is absolutely fabulous. but i had no idea she was THAT fabulous. i mean she transcends reality television and translates in europe? woah and wow. congrats to her, and her fabulous press and marketing team. in my humble opinion, she's fared better post-america's next top model than most of the winners. perhaps second best really is best.

IS KATE MOSS OUT OF A JOB? RIMMEL HIRES NEW MODELS

london - are london's hautest models coming for kate moss's job? not really, i just feel like being extra. but they are definitely joining her bandwagon. sophie ellis-bextor (above) and lily cole (left) have been signed on by rimmel, the british make up brand which is currently repped by kate moss. marketing exec for coty (which owns rimmel) stephen mormoris said, "their vibrant personalities and their achivements not only make them aspirational figures for a generation of young women, but also make them ideal to represent rimmel london." cole and ellis-bextor will star in campaigns for rimmel for the rest of 2008 and moss will continue to star - solo - in rimmel ads as well. sounds like a win-win for all involved.

DARIA WERBOWY DEBUTS NEW MAKE UP COLLECTION

worldwide - you know what? models are doing it for themselves these days aren't they? from t.v shows (tyra and heidi) to clothing lines (milla jovovich) to books (sophie dahl) they are playing no games in their paper chase. as my girl india of glam.com would say, "get your money gurl!" now lets add daria werbowy to the list. the blond beauty has just debuted a new makeup collection called "brazillian earth colors" for lancome. it is currently on sale and can be found at sephora stores. i am giving the name the side eye - no ring to it - but loving the business AND charity hustle. proceeds from the sale go towards an education charity in rio de janeiro. congrats!

worldwide - so her name is behati prinsloo. she's 19. she's also doing quiet well for herself already having landed magazine covers and runway gigs. and now, she is surely about to earn a truckload of cash as the new face for victoria's secret pink line. according to gossip site www.pagesix.com, victoria's secret is prepping her to be the new gisele bunchden.
