Christmas 2010

Some highlights of Christmas day. This was actually the big surprise of the day. Chad and Angela designed and made this beautiful toy chest for Lonny and Amy and Connor.

Part of our wonderful family. We wish everyone could have been there. But we had a good Italian dinner at Robintino's and a trip to Zoolights.

My tomato plants are much taller than I am! And I'm even getting some great tomatoes from them.

Kyle digging to China.. Planting my fruit trees. Kyle and I had a great time Saturday. Dad was well enough to stay home alone for a while. So Kyle went with me to buy some fruit trees. It took us a lot longer than we thought but we got 9 trees. Then we came home and watched another awful BYU game. Then Kyle and I == Mostly Kyle started digging the holes for the trees.
I'm hoping in a year or two we will have some peaches, nectorines and cherries. We finished up about 10pm. It was great fun. Thanks Kyle.
This was an incredible sunset because of a fire that is burning at Camp Williams but it doesn't look as good in the pic. This is "Edy's green house" and the bottom part of my awesome "Garden of Edy". I love my garden!

Heart day

Marcy requested the Dr's Time of D.... picture. Too bad everyone looks so happy.

Sorry everyone. I just wanted to get these posted and I forgot I have to put them in reverse order. So you really have to look at these from the bottom up.

Going home. Good job dad. Last check-up before leaving the hospital on Sunday afternoon. 6 days at Utah Valley hospital.

Dad had lots of visitors. These guys just made it before he left the hospital.

Kyle hung in there with Dad the entire time. Even during ICU he slept in the waiting room. I was greatful so I was able to go home and sleep each night.

Finally out of ICU. Doyle and Sue and Angela and Ray and Marcy and Cayden and Chris and Lonny and Connor came to visit. Kyle stayed the entire time.

Marcy made the cool bear with a new heart, very cute. and Karmel and girls made a pillow with all their pics on it. And the heart Pillow is from the hospital.

These pics, shot by Marcy, are when I was so excited because Lynn and I have a thing (maybe everyone does) If we are ever comatose or something, and if I ask if you can hear me he is suppose to squeeze my hand 3 times.

Well when he was just out of surgery and I held his hand and said if you can hear me squeeze my hand. And he just weakly sqeezed it one time, so I told him that didn't count he needed to squeeze 2 more times. And he did it! I was so excited I couldn't stand it.

Dr Mitchell came in to explain the surgery to the family and tell us how it went. Pic with Kyle, Angela, Lonny, Marcy. Jill and Ryan also came to visit that day. Kyle, Lonny and Marcy all spent the day with me as we waited for Dad to go thru the surgery.

Conference Center

Lynn and I have been volunteering as Conference Center Host/Hostess since March 2010. It is really a special experience. At first I was really nervous about whether I could learn all the information, and especially be able to remember it, and then to convey my knowledge and love of the building to the people that come to visit.

This is one of my favorite views of the Salt Lake Temple. Taken from the Conference Center.

I know this is a rediculous picture of me; but maybe it shows how happy I am to be at the Conference Center. I was about to start the tour for our friends from Ft Rucker, Alabama.

A great day in my life was today at the Conference Center when they read a letter that someone had sent in to the Conference Center. It was hand written and dated August 6, 2010 and the return address was Richart, 10417 Bellmar Ave, Downey, CA 90242.

(now you don't have to wonder why I named this "braggersblog")

The Letter read:

"Dear Volunteers of the Conference Center,

We enjoyed our tour at the Conference Center on Tuesday after 1:00pm. Edy Pherson was our tour guide. She was wonderful and very knowledgeable about the center. Her ability to answer all our questions made us feel at home. Her smile and presentation of the different areas also made us feel welcome. She was very patient with us. This was a wonderful bonus to our day in Salt Lake.

Thank you, Sister Teddie Richart, Pat Bledsoe, Lu Engstrom, Pat Huerta, Lydia Felix"

There is a place where they can make comments after their tour; but this was certainly going the extra mile to send this letter in to the Conference Center.

So I think I remember something of these 5 ladies. As I recall 1 or 2 were members and the others were not but the non-members really seemed like they wanted to know all they could. We are not there to proselite but do as the spirit directs and I really felt that day that I was being blessed to say certain things. The Conference Center is a special place!
