First Day of Kindergarten

The day has come where my little girl has entered kindergarten. I can't believe how big she is getting.

 

Before her first official day she had an hour where part of her class came and met with the teacher and she cried. Yes I knew it was bound to happen. She is just so tender hearted and she didn't want me to leave. Luckily there was an assistant there that sat next to her til she calmed down. I asked Maddie how long the assistant sat with her and she said for a minute or two and then went and sat with another girl who was crying. First she told me that the assistant sat with her for an hour. Ha Ha! Guess we need to teach her about time.

She looks so much like me when I was that age. I can't believe how cute she is!

This little girl is so smart and knows so much. I wish others could see her fun side. She usually clams up when around others.

Now its just this little guy and myself for 2 hours and 40 minutes. Right smack in the middle of his nap time. So really it is my time to catch up on what I can as quietly as I can without waking him up.

I asked Carter, after we dropped her off for her one hour gig the other day, if he missed Maddie and he pushed out his lower lip and shook his head yes. Poor guy misses his buddy. On a side not look at those little dimples on both my kids. Love them!

When we arrived at the school we said another prayer....the fourth one of the day...that Maddie would be strong and know that she would be ok and watched over. We got out of the car, took a picture by the flag pole and at that moment her teacher came out, asked the kids to line up against the wall. I was walking Maddie over to line up against the wall and her teacher starts counting and says " 1...2...3.. bye bye parents." and starts leading the kids inside. I hadn't even given Maddie a hug or a kiss yet. So quickly gave her a hug and kiss and she quickly followed as the line was going in. Neither Maddie or myself had that chance to cry. It was so fast, like tearing a band aid off fast so it doesn't hurt. Well now I sit here and wait til 3:30 to hear how her day went. I hope she is having fun and it handling being away. She is in a class of about 25 students and is in the class with two of her friends from church.

Facts about Maddie:

Knows her ABC's, the sounds that go with each letter and how to write both upper and lower case.

She can count to 100

Knows her colors and shapes

Can read about 20 basic words

Loves to swing

Loves to play in water

Loves to pick on Carter

Still a very picky eater

 

 

I know I know! Its been a year since I last posted

 

Alright, so I know I am horrible. The last time I posted was the first day of preschool for Maddie and her first official day of kindergarten was today. ugh! I have slacked I know. A lot has happened since then. So behold the pictures from her last day of school. My beautiful girl!

 

On her last day she had graduation. We absolutely loved her preschool and wish Ms. Jennifer could have moved on with her to every grade. She goes above and beyond for the children and she really knows how to make Maddie feel special.

Here Maddie is with Ms. Jennifer. She wrote each child a note that was framed in a little diploma frame and had a few others things for the children.

Ms. Jennifer will always hold a special place in our heart. Hopefully she will still be doing preschool when Carter starts...fingers crossed!

First Day of School, First Day of School!



*tear* She's all grown up. I can't believe she is going to school

I finally get to talk about my little preschooler. While everyone else got to brag about their little ones heading off to school I had to wait another week as she just started preschool. My little girl all grown up getting her shoes on before we left for her first day of preschool.

Maddie was really excited and said she was going to be fine. So we took the customary pictures and loaded her up in the car.

She was fine until we turned out of the community and then she said, "Mommy i'm not excited anymore, I don't want to go." It broke my heart. It made me want to turn around and go home and cuddle her. But instead I was brave and continued our 3 minute drive to her preschool. All the while I tried to cheer her up and tell her she would be fine.

I unloaded the little ones and we walked hand in hand up to her preschool. Hung up her back pack, put her lunch in the designated spot and walked into the school. She was so nervous. At that moment I knew she was not going to be easy to drop off. She washed her hands, flipped her picture around to say she was there and then held onto me for dear life. I tried to talk her into staying and showed her the fun the kids were having. Finally I was able to get her to go to her teacher and then I walked out of the classroom. I knew she was in good hands and that her teacher would take care of her.

I silently cried on the way home. The three hours flew by but I sure did miss her. I picked her up and her teacher said she cried for 30 seconds and then was fine. She was pretty guarded though and stayed close to Miss Jennifer the whole time. I consider that a success.

She goes three days a week and I think she will do great. Just need to get those first week jitters out of the way.

I sure do love this girl and can't believe how quickly she grew up.

Little BYU fans and first game

I searched high and low for two white t-shirts for my cute little BYU fans. Finally I found the shirts I needed at Target on clearance. Score! Then I asked my sister Jenni to cut out some heat transfer vinyl for me to put on their shirts. I think I have the cutest little BYU fans....yes I know, biased!

We have a very active little 1 year old on our hands and trying to get him to sit still for a picture is impossible. So this picture and the one below are my attempts. Notice Carter looking in one and Maddie not looking in the other. I tried.

Here is Maddie on Game day. This was the first game for BYU for the season and we invited some couples over in our ward and the kids had a blast and BYU won!! Yeah hasn't happened since but it was a fun day.

For the event I made some yummy treats. I have been wanting to get a large tip for decorating cupcakes for a while and finally did it. I wanted a set but didn't want to pay as much as they wanted so off to the craft store I went. I made white and blue cupcakes and tried to do multi-colored swirls for the frosting. That needs to be perfected but they were yummy.  Not pictured are homemade oreos that were delicious. We ate yummy food and enjoyed great company.

First Haircut from Mommy

This little Boy needed a haircut. I am sure people must think I am crazy but it was getting long in my eyes as it was starting to go in his ears. Not cool. So while Jared was at work I plopped Carter in his chair. Doesn't he look excited.

Is he protesting, "Um can we wait for Grandma Jackie?"

Last chance to back out. I would of tried to get pictures but it was just myself and the kids at home.

Here is the little guy after his new do! He did really well but of course he needs another haircut already. He will be consistently getting his haircut every 4-6 weeks. It grows so quickly. But isn't he so dang cute!

Randomness

There are moments in my life where I find Maddie truly loving her brother. I know that she adores him but I think she feels the need to act out every now and then to get attention. As I try and find a balance between everything from the kids to the house to my calling at church I hope to capture these moments between these two before they grow up anymore. Below Maddie wanted to share her Rice Krispies cereal with Carter. Despite the mess it was pretty entertaining to watch.I Love this picture.

They LOVE to swing on their swings. Luckily the weather is finally turning nice even thought summer is almost over. We even turned our sprinklers on to make sure our grass wouldn't die.

One day Maddie thought it would be fun to put the empty baggy box on Carter's head...not sure what he thinks about it but I couldn't help but laugh about that cracker he has sticking out of his mouth.

Silly Kids! I sure do Love them, even if they have made my grey hairs double in the last year. :-( We are doing well. Jared is staying super busy at work and there never seems to be an end in sight. We've had a great summer thus far and hopefully we will be able to get some more fun packed in before September hits and we are tied to Maddies preschool schedule. I am really excited for her to go and make new friends and hopefully snap out of her shy funk. It will be weird not having her at home during that time but hopefully I will be able to get some things done while she is at school. 

 I am still trying to get my business of being an independent consultant with Shelf Reliance and THRIVE foods going. It slowed down dramatically. I need to hold parties and find others to sign up to be consultants under me to build up my team. I LOVE the product and wish I could figure out how to let others know about it....any suggestions are welcome. Carter Party Part 1

Happy Unofficial Birthday to Carter! A week after Carter's actual birthday we had the family up for a little get -together to celebrate the little guy. (This point will be broken up into two posts as my battery on my camera died half way through the party so the eating of the cake is on Jared's camera...note to self, charge camera battery before someones party)

The night before I made two 13x9 homemade chocolate cakes. I knew I wanted a less-crumbly cake that I tend to get with a boxed cake. The homemade cake is actually really simple. Probably won't be the last homemade cake. The above picture is Carters Smash cake. I didn't think about putting the cake in the freezer after cutting it so it was easier to frost so I ended up handing the cake off to my mom to frost. I had made the dots on the cake a few days in advance.Too bad he barely touched it and was more interested in the dots on the cake.

For the cake for everyone else to share I cut up a 13x9 and made a robot. Again my mom ended up frosting it and I decorated it. Frosting cakes and myself have a love, hate relationship....I hate crumbs in my frosting!

The Handsome Little Birthday Boy! (Here are the walking pictures that you requested Lacey) I asked my sister Jenni if she could cute out a cute iron-on vinyl design for a t-shirt for him. It turned out so CUTE!

I used the same robot from his shirt for the water bottle labels and the tent cards on the table.
