A year has passed...

We feel so grateful to have our little Brianna in our lives, it's a blessing to get through this first year and to see how good she feels and looks now. We feel the power of faith and prayer. Our Heavenly Father has blessed us so much. We are so thankful for that.

Make a Wish - Sage Creek Elementary

On Wednesday the 10th we had the opportunity to go to Sage Creek Elementary in Springville for Make a Wish they are going to be sponsoring our wish they will be giving up a recess and walking while they get pledges for walking. The Principal at Sage Creek elementary asked that we attend an assembly and if we would introduce Brianna and explain a little bit about what Brianna has been going through to kick of the walk a thon. At first we felt a little timid to do this just because we didn't know how our kids would react. but as we went  up to be introduced to the students there was such a special spirit the kids were so receptive. As  I, was telling about Brianna and all that she was going through Brianna keep taking the microphone from me and the kids would laugh so Brianna would too. After the brief story they said that they had heard the Brianna had liked princesses  and that they had a few who wanted to meet Brianna and give her a gift. four of the student council girls had dressed up as princesses and brought her a gifted it was so cool to see them do something like that for Bri and she loved it. they then had us sit down and continued with the assembly it was really cool to see the rest the student council all took time to pledge one recess to walking so that Brianna could go see the princesses they then shared with us the school dance it was so cool to see it and that all the kids did Koby really loved it he danced with them and Breydan still sings what he remembers of the song.Once the assembly ended all the kids got up and went back to their classes but it was so cool as the kids walked by they wall said hi to Brianna and gave her a five and the girls on the Student council came up and gave her a five and a huge it was so amazing to see the spirit of compassion that each one of them had.It made me realize why kids are so special and how easy it is for them to feel the spirit and help others. It's an experience we will never forget.

Cure Search 2012

On September 29th we participated in a walk to get funds for childhood cancer research. It was truly an amazing experience we had never participated in a walk like this. We were very blessed to have family and friends with us. we had about 20 people on our team. since it was our first year we thought we would go easy and see what it's like.  In over all attendance there was over 3000 people and we collected over $160,000 dollars. It was great to know that we took part in something that hopefully will provide others with a cure or at least help with treatment. Since we didnt know what to expect they had an opening ceremony and had a memorial for those kids that were lost to cancer during the year and then they had all the children with cancer go up and give them a medal. It was very touching to see how or Heaven Father sent so many special kids this earth. Just by seeing them you could feel their strong spirits. We would like to say thanks to all those that participated in the walk and donated to our team and for those that are currently working for donations.

Our Make a Wish experience

Brianna had the opportunity to meet with her sponsors on Wenesday July 18th to request a wish, we had a lot of mixed emotions and feelings...at first it's something hard because you don't want your kid to go through a hard time to able to request something like this, and on the other hand you can see the good hearts and love of a lot of people willing to help a lot of kids going through difficult times.

 Brianna and her brothers were excited to go there, when we entered the building they decorated the room with one of Bri's favorite colors "purple".  At first they explain how this organization started and then the showed us the wishing pond, where they gave a coin to each of the kids and let them throw it in and make a wish. Then they showed us a beautiful garden they have outside the building and they took us inside to play some games for Bri to see what would be something she wished for, We hoped to go on a Disney trip since she is into Princesses and beautiful dresses, one of her favorites is Rapunzel and we thought that would be something that her and her brothers will really enjoy. Later they gave Bri a Key to open the castle tower door, where she was going to put her wish... it is a beautiful room with a lot of different colored lights and one of our most touching moments was that we had to write a wish for Brianna and when we were in that room we all read our wish for her...it was a beautiful experience and in a way we know Brianna will not remember a lot of the experiences she is going through...we are trying to keep a scrapbook, a dairy and this blog to show her later in her life a lot of the good things her and us have experienced. Another emotional thing is that they put a star on the ceiling for each wish they granted, and you can see a lot of stars there, that makes you realize how hard they work to be able to grant a wish to a lot of kids and their families.

We just got a called August 6th, from her sponsors  Ric and Jenifer Morgan to let us know they are going to make her wish come true and they said it would be sometime in November. It was pretty exciting for the kids to hear the news and seems like the doctors approved the trip and now we just need to get everything ready to go. November was the month when she started treatment and we think is a good time for us to take a little break and enjoy with the kids. Even with all the hard things we had to experience, we have seen a lot of blessing and miracles happen in our lives and We feel so blessed for our sponsors and for all the people and their willingness to give a moment of happiness to such special kids, we have felt their strong spirits and we know God really sends angels from Heaven to watch over them and us.

Our busy Days go so fast...

Brianna's still doing really good she started her Intern Maintenance II on Tuesday May 8th, she has been having chemo every 10 days and she was count dependable, but since she is doing great with her counts she has been able to receive all her treatments and now we are about to finish this stage Tuesday June 18th , which means she is pretty much done with her most intense treatments,  yeah!!!!!!!!!!

We've been pretty busy since she has been able to go outside and play with other kids as long as she is not in closed places and of course they are not sick. May was a pretty busy month, we loved and celebrated mother's day we all attended church even Bri, we had a great spiritual time seeing the kids singing and specially to see how excited Brianna was to see Breydan singing and saying hi! For memorial day went to Provo Canyon and had a good time with family and friends. Breydan graduated from Preschool and Bri seems to be ready to start attending, but we didn't know she was going to be able to go, so we have no place for her to attend yet, anyway we went to a trip to the Zoo which was sponsored by Primary Children's Hospital. We were able to go a two birthday parties last month, Brianna was so exited to see her friends and to be able to play with the other kids for a little bit, even when we still feel anxious and worry, she is just enjoying everything as a 3 almost 4 year old girl should. She is loving to be able to go swimming in our neighborhood pool just across from our house, it's amazing how good and strong she looks now, her hair is actually coming back and we just feel so bless and grateful to our Heavenly Father.

Her treatment is not over yet she will keep having chemo every month and of course tons of medicines at home, but we keep trusting and praying so she may continue to do well. It's not easy to look back but she and her brothers are a great blessing and example in our lives. We know and testify that there is a loving Heavenly Father watching over us and taking care of our necessities through the hands, love and prayers of other people, we want to say THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR ALL THE SUPPORT.

We had a good time and Brianna enjoyed to be there even if it was for just a little while.

Just finishing another stage

It's been a while since last time we wrote... but these past weeks were kind of busy, Sunday March 25 we noticed Brianna was shedding a lot of hair, that same day by noon the whole front was gone and trying not to make Brianna worried or scared, mommy braided whatever was left of her hair. Later that nigth we were doing some hand painting with the kids, and when we were about to get ready for bed, Brianna went upstairs to put pajamas on, we were going upstairs and she came out of her room without her braids, we asked her where they were but she just said "no hair" her whole hair was gone in just one day, we had a hard time seeing this happening to our little princess, but she was ok with it, Tuesday March 27 she started having a fever and we decided to take her to the clinic, the doctors said they had to keep her over night for observation and just to make sure she didn't have anything that can be dangerous since her antibodies were way to low. Brianna stayed there for 3 days, Saturday March 31, she finally got out of the hospital once they noticed she was better. And just on time for general conference, we were able to feel the Spirit and we found a lot of peace and counseling through the words of living prophets. Tuesday April 3, Bri got another Chemo treatment but it was dependent if her antibodies were high enough and she was more than ready for another round. Thats how she started her second round of Delay intensification. Her little body is just amazing, it keeps fighting and fighting, last week Apr. 10,she got another Chemo treatment at the clinic and 3 more days at home. And this week is going to be the same, the only difference is that yesterday she needed blood transfusion, her red blood cells are low, which is normal at this part of her treatment, the doctors said she has been doing so good and they are surprised she didn't need it before. but this is pretty much the end of this stage and she has a break for 3 weeks if everything else goes ok.

 Well Brianna has amazed the doctors in many ways but we can tell that she is not fighting alone, She is in our Heavenly Father hands, she is doing good because there is a lot of people praying for her, and the most touching part there is a lot of other kids that pray for her health even when they don't understand everything, we just know they have the most pure and sincere hearts, we feel so grateful for them and for their families. We just can not find a way to say thanks to all the people that keep praying and watching over us, specially the dinners that come over to our house every time we have to be here at the hospital or the yummy cookies,cupcakes, food, etc. every little thing we receive from friends and family we really love and appreciate it.

A funny question was asked last week was when does she get tired? and the answer is Brianna really hasn't looked like a sick kid, she plays, eats, watches T.V and even fights with her brothers like any other kid...she has learned to take medicines, to be around nurses and doctors and now she gets exited when she sees someone without hair, because she relizes she is not the only one , she is a very smart girl, and we truly believe Our Father in Heaven knew that she was ready to handle this trial in her life, and our life has changed too but we know He trusted us enough as parents to send us such a special girl  and we feel so humble and grateful because we feel the blessings from heaven. Please keep praying for Bri and for all the other kids that have to go through sickness, so hard to see them suffer.
