Fall Colors

Jonas took some amazing pictures the other day.  Thought I'd share.  

I'd still like to get a picture of our brilliant red tree that is just down our street.  

That tree brings me so much happiness!

We've really missed fall colors.  

Evelyn turns 6!

I am thankful for this little girl that brings surprises and laughter and song into our lives!

Evelyn wanted a purple grape cake.  

Okay...

So I used the basic recipe for a pistachio cake, 

you know, the one with 7-up, pudding and a cool whip frosting...

Instead of the pistachio pudding, I added a grape jell-o mix to the cake batter 

and a second grape jell-o mix to the cool whip and vanilla frosting.  

It was good!  

We got fancy and cut real grapes to make flowers on top of the cupcakes.  

After all that, Evelyn didn't want to eat hers.  

She wanted to play!

I thought it was good.  Too good.

Thanks also to grandparents and family that made her day special with phone calls, "pre"-presents, cards, and lots of love!

Now her countdown will begin for her 7th birthday...

Magic Treehouse

The kids have been devouring the Magic Treehouse series this month.  So for our "book report" day  we made mini tree-houses.  Fun!  And cute!  We decided it would be so awesome to live in mini-worlds like these...

Steps:
1) Go on a tree twig hunt
2) Go on a base log hunt
3) Drill holes in base logs
4) Hot glue the twig into the base
5) Go on a craft/nature hunt for mini-furniture items and accessories
6) Create!
7) Play!

Apple Picking

Awesome Apple-ness!  

The kids and I went apple picking today.  

It was a beautiful day and we came home with a lot of apples.  

Yum!
