It has been a long time since I have posted, so long that I don't even know where to start. Maybe it would be good to just start fresh and go from there!

Kaity Turned 6! Oh My!

I am a little behind on posting! On Jan. 23, Kaity turned six. She has made it a point to tell EVERYONE that she sees that she is now six! If she would have been our first she would have been our last...we say this A LOT! I thought when we started school that I would be in for trouble, BUT if she had been our first to do school I would have thought teaching home school was a breeze. She has been my BEST student! She is quick and eager to learn! She is stubborn and head strong, but also very sensitive! She has ended up home from AWANAs this year a couple of times with hurt feelings, or just scared out of her mind...thanks to Caleb! (That is another story for another day!) She LOVES talking, to ANYONE who will listen to her. There are many times, especially at dance, that we find her talking to the parents instead of dancing! She was and is the BEST unexpected blessing of our lives! Happy Birthday....Kaity!

After a LONG delay......

...we finally figured out what was wrong with the pictures and fixed it! Something about them being in a raw format...fixed that button on the camera as well. Here it is though..our Tabernacle! Caleb and I had a great time building this together. The top picture shows the alter and basin for cleansing. Second pic shows the curtain covering the holy of holies. The third one shows the entire tabernacle. We used cloth for the outside coverings.

A Final Farewell!

I am not sure that we knew three months ago we would be saying a final farewell. We just knew that the news was not good and there was a fight to be fought. You fought your fight but in the end did not win. Tonight we will gather as a family to remember and tomorrow we will say farewell. I am not sure if there will be a time in the next few days to share or not. I also don't know if I would be brave enough to speak up even if given the chance! Here are a few of my memories. When I was a sophomore in high school we went to visit Rodney and Sue in Idaho. I remember taking a shower and trying to hang up my towel. Instead I ripped the towel rack right off the wall. I was so scared to go and tell you what I had done but you thought it was funny. You would bring this up MANY times in the future. Boy! you were strong you ripped the towel rack off the wall. ha ha! I also remember being offered strange food! Rocky Mountain oysters! I had no idea what these were and my horror at finding what they were made you laugh as well. (I wouldn't eat them!) I also remember going up into the mountains surrounding Boise with you and aunt Sue. I also received many pieces of blown glass; a grand piano, a harp and many more. You were very talented in this art form. We will all miss you!

Grrr!!! Ok below on Caleb's paper he does have it laid out with nice paragraph breaks, but when I published his paper to the blog those are lost. Does anyone know how to keep the tabs?

Do you know God? God is the creator of the universe and He also created you and me. Romans 6:23 says, “For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life through Christ Jesus our Lord.” We were born with sin, and sin separates us from God’s gift of eternal life. You can receive eternal life by accepting Jesus as your Savior and Lord. Revelation 3:20 talks about Jesus knocking at our heart, and if anyone opens their heart he will come in. Eternal life is a free gift to anyone, however it your choice to accept it. When we receive Christ in our lives, wee need to show it. There are many ways to show Christ in our lives. The first is by being baptized. In Acts 2:38 Peter says repent and be baptized. Baptism is a public way of showing that you accept Christ. The second way is when we do kind things for one another. An example is by mowing someone’s yard. Sin is when we do something that displeases God. An example is taking a cookie when you know you weren’t supposed to have one. Matthew 5:48 says, “Be perfect, therefore, as your heavenly father is perfect.” This verse means that when we do mess up we need to do better. Not only do we need to do better, but we need to ask for forgiveness. In conclusion, Matthew 28:19 says to go out and make disciples. This means Christians should share the good news. We can do this by sharing our faith with non-Christians. Wecan also do this by participating in service projects in our community. By being a missionary we can also tell the good news.

Working on the Pyramid

I’m a successful wheat farmer working on a pyramid for my beloved Pharaoh in Ancient Egypt. Caleb-Ra is my name and I am twenty years old. You might ask why would a farmer be working on a pyramid. It is the time of year for the inundation. Inundation is the time of year when the Nile floods, therefore my wheat fields are flooded. I will describe for you my experience working on the pyramid. Around me are my neighbors and friends. We are working hard and the sun is beating down on us. Beads of perspiration run down my face. The salty sweat burns as it rolls into my eyes. The work of pulling the heavy stones is hard and has bruised and battered my body. The rope used for pulling the stones has cut into my skin ripping it open. Now my hands burn like fire. The blocks used for building the pyramid are large and heavy. Using a sledge the blocks are brought to the level they need to be at. The sledges are large and as the blocks roll over them they creek and groan. When the stones are placed they make a loud thud. We then hurry back down the pyramid and the process begins again.

This is Caleb's first paper for this school year. He was to describe what it was like to build a pyramid. He would like to know how he could improve his paper. Please feel free to leave comments in the comment box below.
