my cooking show/ hong kong

Hey!  I know I've been pretty much slackin on this blog.  So I'll do an update on my life quick.

MJ reunited.  One day we will have a cooking show....it will be awesome.

Next- As most of you know I will be moving to Hong Kong!!!  I'm pretty excited about it!  Its crazy how this whole thing has been working out, even though I've had to wait months.  I got the job offer months ago, but then they sent me all the paper work for the contract, visa application, and etc. I had to talk to a lot of people to have them write reference letters, got transcripts, and etc.  Then wait for the visa!

But I'm excited.  Its a year contract to teach english for kindergarten.  Everyone asks me how I picked Hong Kong.  I don't know really. It had a lot of things I liked about it and in a sense it almost just picked me.  haha  I liked that its really a really safe city, its really diverse and modern, theres no sales tax, beaches are really close, there are a lot of other foreigners living there, the dress code for work is smart casual (which isnt too bad, at first I was looking into Thailand but the dress code was a skirt and all that- uh no haha) and theres two branches that are English speaking.

Im going to have to get used to the small apartment though.  Thats for sure.  I've been looking at pictures and researching stuff about the city.  You could almost ask me any question and Im pretty sure I can answer it. My roommate has visited there a few times and she already knows the language.  She will be working at the same place as me.

I finally found out the location of my school.  Ill be living in Tsing Yi, which is really good, because it's kind of like living in the suburbs so I'll actually be spending less than I thought in housing and its only about 15-20 minutes away from central.

So come visit me!!!  haha but just let me know cuz who knows I could be in another country cuz its so cheap to travel so I could be in thailand, vietnam, philippines, or japan.

so after the year contract I could sign and do another year or I may go back to Kenya and accept the job offer over there to teach kindergarten when I went to visit a while ago.  The guy works with the church's educational system and told me to come back anytime.  So who knows what Ill be doin...its gonna be an adventure though for sure!

ok im sorry...i know i havent written in forever!!!

but now i have some things to say-

-last nite i went to a fireside by elder bednar. it was really cool. he invited us to ask questions and then he was going to answer them. the spirit was so strong the entire time. it was just what i needed. and then at the end, he asked everybody what we learned. and everyone had a question and even though it may not have been asked, most people got there answer in someone else's question. (he had us raise our hand to see and bout 90% raised their hand)

-then today i let mo outside (i let her go outside every once in a while but then i have to chase her down to get her to come back in cuz she wants to stay outside forever) well today she came inside all by herself!!!! she must really love me! haha

-katie is prolly going to ethopia this summer, which means i will be goin to ethopia this summer. :) haha

-david (and prolly rachel) are coming to visit this summer too. i know my nephew misses me everyday, so im glad i will be able to see him.

- and my little flower that my mom gave me a while ago that i keep forgettin bout, i watered it the other day and now theres a little stem coming out.

i hate when your driving and then you get there and your fav song comes on

i hate when your driving and when you get there the car is heated up

i hate you can always go to the store but you will never get everything you need

i hate when your about to make something, then you realize your missing an ingredient

i hate when your trying to get a parking spot after you've driven around twice and then you see a spot and another car takes it two seconds before you

i hate when i would study for a test and i didn't do as good as when i did study

i hate when you go to the store to buy something and there out of it

i hate when you wait cuz you think its too expensive, then the price goes up

i hate when you listen to a song on the radio thats just ok and then you change the station and its your fav song, but at the very end

i hate that you're too lazy to try something on so you just buy it hoping it fits…it doesnt

thankful list

so last week i meant to blog about what im thankful for...

-my good hair and my fast metabolism

no but really..

-freedom- i love that we live in a country that fights for our freedom. i just got done reading THE HELP a little while ago and it made me appreciate more of what women, blacks, and other nationalities had to go through to get to where we are today.

-scriptures- ive been reading them everyday and have learned so much

my testimony- nobody can ever take what i believe away from me

mo- my cat- i love her so much. yesterday i was thinking about her life. i mean before i adopted her she was living in a little cage for a few months and then the people before her i dont thnk they treated her very well. yesterday it was raining so i let her go outside for a few minutes to enjoy the outside. i knew she wouldnt go very far cuz of the rain. when we was outside she had this look like your actually letting me do this. haha

my family and friends- the ones i can always count on when i need them

my job- that allows me to pay the bills and allows me to travel the world slowly haha

overall im grateful for everything that i have. im grateful for the church and the experiences that help me grow and make me who i am today. im grateful for the good people in my life. im grateful for the small things like my bed, toliet paper, lights, good food, the simple things we take for grated everyday to make this life a little easier.

so at work me and some of the people i work with have contests and ask the kids who the coolest is? haha

here are ten reasons why it is usually me haha

1- you ask this one boy who is bff is and he will tell you its me. then you ask him what bff is and he says best friends forever.

2- another boy told me how im his favorite so i told him to tell his dad. so the next day his dad came up to me and told me how i was his favorite and i was like oh really. thanks hahah

3- another boys mom is pregnant and he told the doctor that he wanted the name the baby ms. melissa, not just melissa, but ms. melissa

4- one of the girls calls me her sister and you ask her why and she'll say cuz we look alike.

5- another boy you ask him if im cooler than him and he said yeah. then i asked him if i was cooler than his mom and he said yeah and my dad too. haha

6- i am up on a childs fridge at home

7- one of the parents told me that her child was my son- haha- but im like part of their fam basically so its funny

8- so many parents tell me that their kids told them that i was their favorite. haha

9- one of the parents is a milwaukee fan and you know i LOVE the cardinals, so i put tape on this kids shirt and it said cardinals fan for life. haha

10- one of the kids is moving to hawaii and she asked her dad if i could come too and she got mad cuz he said no. haha

yep- so basically thats what i teach this kids all day. who the coolest is.
