John's Hot Spring

We went to John's Hot Spring near Sweet, Idaho on saturday afternoon.  It was fun.  This is one of my favorite hot springs.  It is clean.  It is private (reservation only).  It is a nice big pool.   Courtnie spent most of her time with a little girl glued to her.  She was so ready to go home by the end of the weekend.   It was a lovely day.  The sun was shining.  The pool felt soooo warm and nice.  We all left with a little sunshine on our cheeks and shoulders.  What a great way to spend a Saturday afternoon!

Easter Festivities

  

We went to this really fun Easter Celebration.  They had cake walks, bounce houses, train rides, pony rides, etc.  This year it was a lot busier than in years past so the kids didn't get to do as many things.  Porter had the most fun, hands down.  He LOVED the train ride.  He was waving and waving.  People were laughing because he looked so proud as the train would go by and he would do this proud wave - like he was President of the United States or something.  Kaitlyn didn't want to do hardly anything but stand next to Courtnie and hold her hand.  It reminded me that she is growing up.  I love the 2 year old phase (sometimes).  They get so excited about everything!!  It makes it so fun and makes up for the times you would like to wring their necks!!   

Easter Egg Dying Contest

This weekend with my brothers (Sean and Jeremy) and their wives, we decided to have an Easter Egg Dying Contest.  I recommended a vocational egg for each of them.  Jeremy works for Delta and made an airplane egg which is seen on the back row.  I thought it turned out awesome!  Sean does auto-body so he did the car egg.  It is hard to see in the picture, but he cracked up the front of the egg so it looks like a wrecked car.  What a cute idea!  Courtnie did the one with the braces since she does teeth.  I did the one that looks like a little girl.  That is definitely my biggest job.  Patrick did the sparkling blue egg to represent sparkling clean water.  I thought the eggs turned out so fun.  I was amazed at how artistic my brothers are.  Kaitlyn had a great time dipping a million eggs in a million colors.  She definitely got the prize for quantity.  Porter had fun dying too but I didn't catch any pictures of him until it was time for dessert.  I was too busy!!

   

Skinnydipper Hot Springs

Sean and Courtnie came into town to visit for Easter weekend. We also found out that my cousins Nils and Jodi were in town for spring break. So we all got together and decided to go to some Hot Springs. We were going to go to this other hot spring but the road was still closed due to snow. So, we found ourselves at Skinny dipper Hot Springs. Yes, it is named that for a reason. I felt bad when my poor 12 year old cousin was unnecessarily exposed to some old men soaking in some rays...tummy up. Luckily, our large group scared them away...but not fast enough. The water was a little on the hot side for me, but it was still fun!! There are lots of warning signs that say "Bare Country" and the like so I must say we were warned. Hopefully my cousins aren't scarred for life! And hopefully their parents let them come over again next time they are in town...

Happy St. Patrick's Day!

Happy St. Patrick's Day!  We started out our day with our traditional green breakfast.  Patrick said what he always says: "Disgusting!"   Porter was just excited to eat.  Kaitlyn asked What kind of juice it was (orange with food coloring) and how I made it and then she said "that's good so the food doesn't get pinched!" 

            

  

Inventions...

Kaitlyn is very creative.  She likes to create and invent and rearrange things.  Tonight I came in the bathroom and found her very excited to show me her new invention and how it works.  Her invention is made by connecting a series of hair elastics into a chain.

Her explanation of her invention went something like this:  "My first idea was to have it stretch across and hook to the basket (which is balanced between the wall and the toilet) ...it was going to be kind of like a seatbelt for the toilet so you don't fall off very easy.  Since that didn't work, I attached it to the "flusher." Now you don't have to push down on the "flusher," you just have to pull on the rubber band chain.  It is much easier." 

I watched her demonstration of how it worked.  Instead of taking 1 second to flush the toilet, it now takes about 30 seconds and about 6 tries.  But she holds firm that it is much easier!  She was very proud of her invention so I just had to take a picture.
