Southern Skies

The other night, we had to run up to Costco, and the sky had some really awesome cloud formations and colors. I love the sunsets down here and I am always taking pictures of clouds during our travels. Some might say that "my head is always in the clouds!" 😂⛅

Songs of Dixie

On Tuesday, September 15th, we went to a special musical event at the tabernacle where we listened to Songs of Dixie, presented by several community groups and individuals. We enjoyed hearing some of the songs that have been so popular here in Dixie for many years. I did not realize that country singer, Marty Robbins, visited the Kanab area often (a little over an hour away from us) and actually wrote 2 songs about Utah. One was called Utah Carol, and he also wrote The Hills of Utah. The Red Hills of Utah was performed during the program. 🎜🎝🎶

Cowboy Concert Time

This week, Dixie Days are being celebrated here in St. George. On Monday, September 14th, we were able to go to a free concert in the park, featuring Ned LeDoux and afterwards we watched a drone show. It was a pretty cool evening. 🎝🎜 🤠 The concert was sure well attended! The temperature was still in the 90's, with a breeze blowing, so it was a perfect night for a free concert in the park. 😊

"Ned LeDoux is a popular Country Singer who was born on August 4, 1977, in Kaycee, Wyoming, also the hometown of his father, country music singer, Chris LeDoux, who died on March 9, 2005, at the age of 56.  Ned is a Country music singer whose debut album Sagebrush reached the 38th spot on Billboard’s Country Music Chart. Two radio singles, “Brother Highway” (Radio Single) and “Some People Do” were released from the album. The younger LeDoux began playing drums in his father’s road band, Western Underground, in 1998. LeDoux began recording solo material in 2015, working with producer Mac McAnally. His debut EP Forever a Cowboy came out in 2016. LeDoux wrote four of the five songs on it. Sagebrush, his first full-length album, followed in 2017. On November 8, 2019, LeDoux released his 2nd studio album Next in Line.

Concerning Water Levels

We went for an afternoon ride, and it is so alarming to see the low water levels. This is Quail Creek Reservoir, and the above picture should be filled with water. This is really getting scary and I am just glad that we won't be spending too much longer down here. These pictures were taken on Labor Day, September 7th.

My Birthday

On September 3rd, I advanced to the ripe old age of 74! Yikes! The sad part was getting sick in the afternoon after we went out for lunch. I started getting sick two days earlier on our way home from Oregon and thought I was doing better, BUT I guess not. I felt pretty lousy for several days but did have a great birthday. I received lots of birthday wishes, texts, cards, messages, gifts and phone calls. I absolutely felt the love of family and friends. Thanks to everyone for making it an amazing day, despite getting sick! 👍😊💕

74 it is!!! 

Eugene, OR

On August 19th, Denny and I left for Eugene, OR to spend a couple of weeks with my sister Lisa, after Steve passed away. We helped her do a lot of projects around the house, I went to a couple of her doctor appts with her, Denny and I went to the temple, Lisa and I did some shopping, took flowers to the grave and mostly we were just there to lend support to her in any way that we could and to listen. Lisa has been so busy taking care of Steve, had company in her house and she really needed someone to be there with her when things were starting to settle down.  I am so grateful that we could drive there and be with her. The time just flew by so quickly and I will always continue to worry about her, and I know that this winter is going to be a long, tough road for her.  It is such a helpless feeling when someone that you love is hurting so much and there just isn't anything that you can do to take the pain away. We are ALL going to lose loved ones and go through this type of grief. Life is so very fragile, and we have to make each day count. My eternal boyfriend is turning 80 years old next month and I can't help but wonder how much more time that we will have together. I pray that it is many years still, but we never know and just need to always treasure all of our time with our loved ones. 💕

I made this collage for Lisa for her birthday with some of the special times that Lisa and Steve shared when they visited us down here. They actually traveled down her 6 times, and we always had such fun. 

We traveled through Nevada and went for a few miles on this road. We have traveled The Loneliest Road in America before and it really is. A lot of the roads that we traveled on were very long and lonely roads!! 😕

We spent the night in Winnemucca, NV. at the Holiday Inn. 

This is an interesting cemetery in Winnemucca with the concrete slabs and headstones. Very different. 

It was so nice to hit Oregon again. We went through Klamath Falls and then up to Eugene. Before we had any children, we spent a couple of months in Klamath Falls when Den was working for his cousin making median barriers and it has sure grown since then. 

It was fun waking up to the roosters each morning! (For a while anyway!) 😂 🐓

The brand-new LDS Temple in Springfield OR called the Willamette Valley temple. 

Denny put together a cat tree for Lisa's cats. 

We enjoyed seeing the turkeys everyday around the property. They are very brave and come right into the yard anywhere they feel like it! We were lying in bed one morning and all of a sudden, the turkeys were flying up on the roof of the house! Crazy! 🦃

Heading back home through our beautiful Oregon mountains. We sure miss Oregon! 

When we were getting close to Winnemucca on the way back to spend the night, we saw a new fire that must have cropped up in the time that we went through two weeks earlier. 

Fire always makes a beautiful sunset. 

This was in Veyo which is just a few miles out of St. George. We were almost home! 

We got back home to St. George on Tuesday, September 1st. I'm so glad that we could make the trip to help Lisa, spend time back in Oregon, not pay sales tax, and that we are physically able to make these trips home. Hopefully this next May we will get moved somewhere back in Oregon. 🤞
